No good lake access from site, had two big trees that were creaking the whole time with the wind. They would have come down and spilt the campsite in two so I slept on the other side of them to not get trapped in.

It had been 5 years since we camped at Lake Tahkenitch and not much had changed except the process of getting a camp site and the cost. I believe it cost around 9-10 dollars a night 5 years ago and we had a great time swimming in the lake, hiking and relaxing, even though the traffic was a little loud from the highway. This time we had to reserve on line in advance and we tried to remember the campsite we had before, but accidentally chose a different one. When we got there and realized we chose incorrectly, the camp hosts were great and just told us to take another empty spot as they were not reserved for the night. We were staying two nights and we were lucky no one wanted our spot the next night, so we didn't have to move. The cost with the online reservation fee of $8. was going to be $30. night, which we thought was outrageous for a campground with only pit toilets and no water! Luckily, we used our senior access discount and it cost us $32. for two nights. We are very disappointed that there are no first come fist serve spots which they used to have and the camp hosts agreed it was stupid way of operating the camp ground since there is no cell service or wifi. To change our reservation or reserve another night, we would have had to about 5 miles away to get reception and make a reservation. Not a good system and way too expensive!

This campground is a true gem! Spot 16 is on a dead end and close to the clean vault toilet. Trash dumpsters are nearby and the lake is maybe a blk and a half walk.

The site was very poorly described online. There was no photo and the campground map gave the impression it was by itself when in fact it looked more like it should be part of the site next to it. it even had the next site's picnic table on it. it was so small and awkward, we could not see how to successfully use it and so just abandoned our stay and went home.

The reservation procedure is confusing, seems like you have to reserve each day instead of picking when you come and leave. not friendly for us older people. I like the camp ground being so close to the lake.

We come here every year for our annual family reunion. I like the changes the campground made to the number and size of the campsites. This year we occupied 5 sites for 3 nights and had a blast. The camp host does a good job of keeping up with the cleanliness of the campground. It is unfortunate that the lake is turning very inundate with water weeds and algae. We used to swim off the dock but these days its not so inviting. Thank you for keeping this campground going year round. I hope the fire season will end soon!

This campground is located in close proximity to multiple lakes and wetlands. Due to this, there can be an abundance of mosquitoes between the months of April and August. Please be prepared for this. |
