The smallest site I have ever seen. Way too small! The camp hosts were very friendly but there was a Ranger who actually made us move in tighter because we were over the line (invisible) into the next site. The site next door had one car and one pup tent. It was a ridiculous request but we moved our tent and had about a twelve inch wide aisle between tents. The campers on the other side of them ignored the request to put their campfire out. They were from out of state so they could care less if Oregon burns. We hope they got fined but we doubt anything happened at all.
We’re grateful we had some camping time in and it was a beautiful lake but we probably won’t be back

The camp hosts were great people who were genuinely happy to help and chat. The campground itself is very minimal. The roads are gravel (so no biking for our young kiddos) and the sites are very small, and sites 10-13 in particular are not very shaded or private. The other sites around the campground seemed to have a bit more privacy.

Beautiful lake, warm enuf for swimming. Smaller campsites but well maintained and if you spend most of your time on or in the lake no worries. Mostly folks congenial. Next door neighbor had an aggressive poorly trained pit bull but she kept poor thing in car most of time.
Hosts superlative. One female, one male toilet not enuf for the numbers but was kept clean. Place is full up most weekends so during the week an extra pleasure. Open all year. Good bass lake, good kayaking. Short trip to Florence for supplies. Nice walk to ocean thru Tahkenitch campground , a quarter mile? to trailhead.

Camp hosts were nice. We loved the lake. The site had a lot of broken glass and smelled like urine. Our campers next door partied until 2am with loud music and puking and urinating in the bushes next to our site. Also the garbage was very stinky. But husband said it was because of the fish. We liked the actual campgrounds.

Very poorly marked campground. Dead ends so you have to back out with your rv to get to next loop. #24 is at the downhill descent so you are backing up a hill, major blind spot trying to get into a severely uneven campsite. Will not stay here again. Other sites small and not appropriate for rv or travel trailers

While it may be tempting to stay here because its on the water, be warned. Most of the sites are right on top of one another without so much as a bush or tree between you. Our spot, 20 we were literally a fence post away from the neighbors tent and their 6 rambunctious children who awoke at 7 am screaming, every morning. Stay at the less crowded Tahkenitch campground thats less than a mile down the road. More space for and there are actual trees in sites. Site 29 was fairly private and enjoyable.

We stayed in site 13. The Campground was quiet and clean, the lake was nice with a good dock and ramp. Highway noise was quite noticeable. Our site was big enough for a car, a tent the picnic table and a fire ring, but with little room to spare. Sites 10, 11, 12, and 13 are lined up like sardines with no division. All are small, and 11 is shaped like a bowl. Some other sites in the Campground are large with nice trees and vegetation separating them.

The site layout is very poor. We were literally on top of each other and could barely find a flat enough spot to camp. The tent sites had big dips in them. The hosts were very pleasant and helpful. It was just too many sites crammed into a small spot. The lake was beautiful and fairly warm too. Also, close to the dunes for some fun. Trailers: we had a 25 ft trailer that was supposed to fit in the spot we reserved. there was no way to make the corners getting into that spot given where they put the dividing posts. luckily we reserved two spots (because we were with another group) and pulled through two spots to make it work.

This campground is located in close proximity to multiple lakes and wetlands. Due to this, there can be an abundance of mosquitoes between the months of April and August. Please be prepared for this. |
