The site was almost not level enough for our Trailer. We needed three blocks on one side just to even things out. The camp host was unavailable when we arrived and there was still a party in our site after their checkout time of 1pm. The campground is one we like, but this was not our best trip.

I had booked a campsite online, upon arrival the site was occupied, I went to the CG Host and they said that there was nothing that they could do. They said I would have to call Rec.gov. They made no effort to help or to determine why there was someone on the site that I had booked. There was no wifi or cell coverage at the camp. When I found a place to call, there was a 25 minute hold time on the phone line to Rec.gov. It was now 8:00 pm and worried that I would have no place to stay, I ended up booking another site, that I knew was vacant, but I could not get a full refund on the original site, because, they said, I could have changed it online...

Overall a decent campground, cute little trail along the river too. However there was a a lot of litter in our campsite when we arrived, all over the grass and in the bushes. The firepit was more of a garbage can from previous campers.

I love this area. Siltcoos lake and river and the seashore south of the river. I kayaked up to the lake and back down to the ocean. Super nice paddle. Saw some otters! This campground is very sweet in the late fall and winter. However, in spring and summer it is very noisy, in the campground (generators, folks working on their ATVs, music, radios) and in the surrounding area (north of the campground the dunes are open to ATVs till late) with the sound of ATVs racing around. Nothing against it, you should just be forewarned. Dunes Overlook just south of Siltcoos is a must-see for folks who want to hike the dunes and walk the pristine beaches. Closed to motorized vehicles.
