Camping as a family of 5, kids age 8-13:
Kids participated in Jr. Ranger Program.
All volunteers/rangers at the stations were helpful.
Chisos Basin Tent Camping--camp hosts were excellent, kind, hospitable.
Window Trail, Tuff Canyon, Santa Elena Canyon--all enjoyable and easy for the range of ages we had.

Perfect spot (loop 1, site 8) for a two-person tent and small SUV. Ground was level enough, and it’s isolated at the corner of the loop, so you have more privacy than other sites. Near the bathrooms, which were clean and quiet (no creaky doors!) I will say that the site is immediately next to the power lines, and we could hear the screech of the electrical current (?) on and off, but got used to it quickly. 10/10 would stay again, but this area is closing for 2+ years beginning May 2025

I have a 10x10 tent and it won't fit in some of the campsites, especially #53.

Sad to hear that the campground will be closed for up to two years, but we understand the need for some serious upgrades. We have been annual visitors for over 40 years.

The campsite was a wonderful location with lots of scenery around. This site had a table with the bench attached so we didn't really need to bring our camping chairs as there was no time to just lounge around, there was so much to do and see. The restrooms were fairly close to the site and the host was not too far, they mentioned that there was an area to wash dishes but we did not need to do that. The metal food locker was great because we didn't have to worry about attracting bears. The site was a little rocky so be mindful of that when setting up your tent.

The beautiful Chisos Mountains surround the campground, which includes restrooms and bear-proof boxes. It's also near the visitor center, stores, and a restaurant. I will return.
