Very nice secluded place to camp. I wish they had more sign to tell you where to go, like how to get to the lake and how to get to your camp site. Highly recommend that you stop at one of the houses that are selling camping wood. You get a pile of wood for $10 and that should last you through the weekend. You will not find any wood around the campsites. There is only one shower house that we saw, all the others are just restrooms. The first night we had some loud people that were staying across from us and they did not abide by the quiet time in the park. Quiet time is 10:00-06:00 and they were still loud at midnight, wouldn’t have been bad if we didn’t have younger kids with us. While we were there we went to Natural Bridge and walked to the waterfalls also went to the zoo and we had a good time and the kids loved it. Make sure that if you go to the zoo that you buy some of the food to feed the animals when you get your tickets. The kids will love it. Overall it was a really nice secluded place to camp and unwind. THERE IS NO CELL SERVICE!!! Which was really nice to be able to have the entire family unplug and enjoy each others company.

Had a pleasurable stay. The sites were clean, volunteer's were not nosey and were kind. Bathroom facilities clean. The floor to the shower/s are slick and you will need some sort of shower footware. Even the changin area of the shower was wet and slick so perhaps you should bring a mat to stand on while changing?
Being as the park was builit in the 30's the sites are mostly small and are better suited for small campers, (pop ups and casita types), tents. You best have your expert backup patch earned to be able to get in most spots. Most backups are at 90 degrees to the narrow acces road. Nice little creek meandering though the park with a good many campsites adjoining this creek. I would be willing to bet this park is where the WPA workers stayed while working on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The lake is a big draw as well to this park. The kids will love the beach and swimming! Ample bathroom facilities and access to potable water. Only one FM radio station NPR 89.1, Harm Radio repeater WA1ZMS was strong into and out.

The campground is clean. The sites are very spacious and neat. I have been coming here for 61 years and always hate to leave.

Beautiful campground. The sites are large with good space between. There are some nice trails leaving right from the campground. Bathrooms were clean. Unfortunately quiet hours are not enforced so we didn’t get much sleep. Luck of the draw, I guess - with more respectful neighbors it would have been a great camping experience!

Absolutely love this campground! Nice clean bathrooms and showers. Youth only stocked rainbow trout lake was nice for the kiddo too! Been here many times and will be back many more!

We camped at a spacious, flat, and rock-free tent site. We had room for our two tents, camping chairs, vehicle, etc. The campsite was almost perfectly shaded with some light coming through. The campground was fairly quiet and the bathrooms and showers were nearby, clean, and the water was warm. There were bear hooks but no bear boxes. There was potable water everywhere which was great but we didn’t see any dishwashing stations. The little lake with the salamanders was really cute but not really a full-day activity, which is fine because there is so much to do in the area. It was both a blessing and a curse to not have any cell signal, but pretty normal for NPS campgrounds. On the whole this little area was one of our favorite places we’ve camped and we will be back.

Great campground. Sites are spaced out pretty decent. I love the creek that flows through the center of the campground. Plus there is a nice pond. The only thing I would add would be a swing set for kids

The last week of October is a great time to visit. The campground is beautiful in the fall and campers are courteous. A great place to use as base to hike the many near by trails.

We had a wonderful stay at the rustic tenting sites. We’re so thankful to still be able to find these and hope they don’t go away! So many places are converting all of their tenting space into places for camper hook ups.
We stayed in an area that was quiet (only one camper with a generator and they were kind enough to shut it off after about 7:30/8pm). There were 5 other tenting families around us with little kids that ran all over the place and having much fun… watching them play was wonderful entertainment! The bathrooms were basic, but clean and serviceable. The site hosts were welcoming and informative about the area’s hiking trails. We hiked Wildcat Trail and it’s well maintained and a decently strenuous hike. We would go back to both camp and hike in a heartbeat!
