What Guests Are Saying

Evans Campground offers a beautiful location with spectacular views and well-maintained campsites, making it a great spot for families and friends. While some reviews noted issues with bathroom cleanliness and lack of water availability, the friendly hosts and enjoyable atmosphere contributed to a positive experience for many visitors. I drove 6 hours to this location, and brought mostly food that would be to cook over the fire. Online while booking the reservation, it said we were allowed to have campfires, but as we arrive there is a no campfire rule. I feel the website should be updated, as it was misleading and I would’ve much rather made a reservation at a site that I was allowed to have campfires. It was a beautiful site of course, but I was quite disappointed because of that.

We had a nice tenting spot really close to the water.
Came down for Canada Day July 1st and there were so many people for July 4th USA holiday week.
Friendly people and friendly hosts it was a great time!
We bought a Dingy from colville Walmart and went rowing and fishing out on the water.

We had a wonderful time in our camp site right near the lake. The spots are pretty close together and people were not super mindful of when to run their generators and make noise. I didn’t see a camp host and it was memorial weekend, so that’s probably why. Otherwise, a lovely, clean, and very family friendly place.

Amazing spot, nice and leveled for our almost 30 ft camper trailer. Nice, secluded but not too far from town!

We frequently camp at Evans and have never had a poor experience. The grounds are clean and well kept. Access to the dock is convenient and restrooms are cleaned and stocked, although no hand soap is provided. Boat launch is readily available so long as the water level is met and beach access is also convenient. Water and septic disposal is easy to pull up to. Overall, always a memorable camping experience with nice grassy areas to play in and spaces are wide and long enough for the appropriate vehicles.

The map of the spots are very deceiving and sooo small. The pull through Rv spots are hardly big enough to fit an travel trailer through and all the spots are right on top of each other. The bees were so bad!! The bathrooms were dirty every day of the trip. The boat launch was closed due to the water being low. The beach around loop 1 was disgusting and had bugs and algae all over. Someone was skinning their fish and throwing it in the water around the beach. Plenty of open grass area for kids to play. Camping spots were clean.

The highs:
Beach/swimming area is very nice with fine sand. There is a good amount of shallow water for the kids.
Restrooms were clean.
There is a nice courtesy boat dock.
Highway and train noise was minimal, despite the close proximity to the campground.

The lows:
Many sites were very close together
Trees were a bit sparse, so shade was tough to find in many spots throughout the day. Most spots along the water get hit camp-side in the afternoon through the early evening.
Most of the "pull-through" sites are tiny. We had trouble staying out of the road in spot 33 with an 18' trailer and Jeep Grand Cherokee.
If you are in spot 32 and 33, nearly every a$$hole on the west side of the campground thinks your site is a shortcut to the beach. These less-than-courteous campers have to come down the driveway for spot 32 and weave through wooden pylons that designate the parking area. They KNOW they are going through someone's spot. They don't care. Cutting through our site was the norm, not the exception.
In mid-August, the Canadian geese can be very rowdy in the early morning hours. They also crap all over the place. We were advised by the rangers to shower after swimming to avoid swimmer's itch due to the goose feces.
The beach is open to public use, so it can get a bit crowded when the locals roll in.
Speaking of locals, we witnessed a late 90's/early 2000's black Civic with three early-20's shady looking males creep through the campground twice in the three days we were there. They weren't looking for their next camping spot. We locked all valuable items up at night and fortunately nothing went missing.

Other notes:
We were able to get 2-3 bars of either 4G LTE or 5G extended coverage service through T-mobile throughout the campground.

Overall, the lake and scenery were very pretty and the beach was very nice, if a bit small. I don't think we'll be back to this campground as there are many better options in North Idaho, which is closer to us.

No water to the group site. Had to carry water over 100 yards for 20 people...
The faucet we did find was full of air and rust before clean water
