What Guests Are Saying
Cougar Rock Campground offers spacious, clean sites with good privacy and easy access to Mount Rainier trails, making it an ideal base for outdoor enthusiasts. The bathrooms are well-maintained, although some reviewers noted a lack of warm water and soap. Challenges include difficult campsite reservations and occasional issues with nearby campers, but the overall experience is positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Love the campground, right inside the national park. It was a reasonably shaded spot. We'll be back here. The restrooms were spotless! Toilet paper was provided. But don't forget to bring your own hand soap. There's a communal food storage, but no individual food storage is available. I asked around and people recommended to simply store things in the car, which seemed a little iffy...
Some campgrounds are smaller than others. The restrooms were a bit of a walk, but didn't bother me much. However, carrying the washing items to and from the washroom/washing station can be a hassle.
The Wonderland Trail was very close, and we could see Mount Rainier from the campground (just outside the camping spot). It helped us time our skyline trail.
Tip: Restrooms are closer when walking toward the exit.
Con: No campfires allowed.

This was a nice camp with a great view of the mountains. The only thing I didn’t like was the loud music coming from a group of teenage boys that didn’t even bother to clean up their site before dusk, beer cans all over their site.

Nice campground with good location within the park. Bathrooms were good but could use some hangers for towels and toiletries while using the restrooms.

Great Campsite!! I have camped in all 3 national park campsites in Rainier and its difficult to pick which one I love the most. We were a group of three and we found a walk-in campsite on Thursday morning.

Clean. The Rangers were super helpful and friendly.
We used a first come first serve site, and while the entrances posted a sign saying the campgrounds were full as did the sign outside the campground, there were still a handful of sites left for us to choose from. The signs were a bit misleading. Regardless, we enjoyed our stay.
