Not sure why 3 loops were closed but got the last site on a weekday in mid-September and we barely fit.

I had a great stay at Cougar Rock and I’d definitely stay here again. I was at this site for my first two nights as it was the tail end of the reservation season and had to switch campsites for my last two nights. I liked how the tent area was elevated from the rest of the site. I’d definitely recommend this campground! It’s about 10 minutes from Longmire and just a beautiful 30 minute drive from Paradise.

I moved to this campsite after my first two nights due to the campground switching to first come first served and the closing of D and E loops for maintenance. The campsite was literally next to the bathroom which was convenient but the light from the bathroom was a tad bright. This site is also pretty close to the neighboring site so while I’d stay at Cougar Rock again, I’d probably not pick this particular site.

Camped at a first come first serve site in mid-September for two nights. Easy reservation process with the Visitor Center the next day (we came in after hours). Limited sites open that time of year, but great to have several restrooms in each loop and nice, quiet sites while visiting the park.
