What Guests Are Saying
River Road offers a peaceful camping experience with friendly and attentive hosts, clean facilities, and beautiful scenery by the river and dam. While the site has limited space for large tents and some minor issues like sawdust from tree removal and limited shower availability, overall, guests appreciated the well-maintained grounds and enjoyed their time in nature. The lack of cell service may be a drawback for some, but many found it refreshing and conducive to relaxation.

Great except for the burn ban that prevented us from having a campfire. Host was wonderful.

This was a pull through site and was very easy to get into but you are not very far from the road that goes to the other campsites.

Pros: Extremely friendly, helpful staff. Close to dam with beautiful views. Two pads to utilize. Covered outdoor seating. Partial shade. Stairs nearby to walk down to water. Adequate area for dogs to relieve themselves near the site.
Cons: Water hookup is 60' away. Electric hookup is set up alongside the short pad that our RV couldn't fit in. We used 2 30-amp cords and 1 extension cord to reach. Fishers constantly walked through our campsite and over both cords. High traffic was fairly off-putting and uncomfortable. Little to no cell service, no free tv channels, or radio stations.
Would come here again but not utilize this particular site.

Small, quiet campground along the river below Nimrod Dam. Staff are extremely nice. Although the literature says there water hookups, they aren't available at every site.

The hosts, Bonnie and Mike were lovely and very accommodating. It’s a beautiful campground at the base of a dam with a great picnic areas and a playground. Don’t forget to stop at Hollis Country Store just down the way from there.

Bonnie and her husband were the best! It ended up storming on us so we had to leave a day early but we will definitely be back.

We love this campground but it may not be for all people. There is very little cell service if any at all for AT&T. Other carriers may be different. It’s quiet except for the steady stream of fishermen but it really seems to calm down later in the evening. Nimrod dam is amazing and our kids love to go on it and look over the high side at all of the turtles and the low side at the waves from high waters. The attendants are awesome and do not really bother you which is amazing to us introverts. The only downside is that it seems like a lot of people do not take care of the campsites as much as they should. We stayed within two weeks of each other at the same site and each time had to clean out the semi burned trash and pick up quite a bit of trash just thrown around. Overall it’s a great campground and we go as often as we can.
