River Road offers a peaceful camping experience with friendly and attentive hosts, clean facilities, and beautiful scenery by the river and dam. We love this campground but it may not be for all people. There is very little cell service if any at all for AT&T. Other carriers may be different. It’s quiet except for the steady stream of fishermen but it really seems to calm down later in the evening. Nimrod dam is amazing and our kids love to go on it and look over the high side at all of the turtles and the low side at the waves from high waters. The attendants are awesome and do not really bother you which is amazing to us introverts. The only downside is that it seems like a lot of people do not take care of the campsites as much as they should. We stayed within two weeks of each other at the same site and each time had to clean out the semi burned trash and pick up quite a bit of trash just thrown around. Overall it’s a great campground and we go as often as we can.

From Ola, Arkansas, take Route 7 south for 9 mi to the Access Road and follow the signs to the campground.

- Park attendants are available from 8 AM to 12 AM and 2 PM to 6 PM.
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
Site capacity
- Each campsite allows either two tents or one RV and one tent.
Vehicles & parking
- Only highway legal vehicles are allowed; off-road vehicles are prohibited.
Site types & loops
- Group shelters are only for day use; overnight camping is not permitted.
Fires & fuel
- To prevent pests, buy firewood locally and burn it on-site; do not move firewood.
