What Guests Are Saying
Convict Lake Campground offers stunning views, well-maintained facilities, and friendly hosts, making it a popular destination for campers. Visitors appreciate the clean restrooms, proximity to the lake, and various activities like fishing and hiking. However, some sites are small and exposed, with limited shade, and there have been occasional reports of noise and theft. Overall, many guests express a strong desire to return.

Would have been an excellent experience if the creeks weren’t almost empty.

Beautiful campground, especially for fall colors and as a base to tour the whole area. Standard national park non hookup sites, but flush toilets and fresh water readily available. Dump station just across the creek, near the resort (store, restaurant, cabins). Also, hot showers available ($) at the resort. Some sites are very private, but we preferred the larger, more open sites with creek access. Clean and well maintained by the very helpful camp hosts. Lots of always FF sites (not listed to be able to book online), so take a look for open sites before you set-up and you may find one nicer than the site you booked. Camp hosts will get you taken care of if you decide to change sites. Short drive to Mammoth Lakes, where you can get anything you need/want. Chevron station in Mammoth sells propane.

Very scenic and peaceful. The hike around Convict Lake was easy and even seen a couple jogging it. Campsite was pleasant and the bathrooms were clean but no shower access. 20-30 min drive to Mammoth area as well as the June Lake area.

Beautiful campground. Very clean, RRM staff are on top of things here. Flush toilets were cleaned and stocked every time I visited them. Definitely would go back.

We arrived around 8:30pm and didn't really get to see the whole site or campground. We could though hear the wedding reception at the Resort until just after 10pm. It wasn't too much of an issue since we were busy setting up camp. We had spot 65 and were surprised and disappointed on how small the site was once we had daylight. The picnic table was WAY too close to the firepit and not much area to move about.
We were grateful that fires were allowed and we enjoyed one the next evening before going to sleep. What ruined the experience was another wedding reception's music coming from the resort and another campsite blasting music. Thankfully the reception was quiet by 10, but the other campsite kept pushing it by occasionally playing loud music until 10:30pm.
The campground is a great place to base out of since the tent sites are so small and not much room to want to just hang out at the site. I wasn't thrilled the tent sites and RV sites were intermingled, but other than the one loud person our neighbors were quiet and I don't think I heard a generator once.
