What Guests Are Saying

Dimond O Campground offers a pleasant stay with well-maintained sites, friendly hosts, and clean bathrooms. Visitors appreciate the beautiful surroundings, privacy between campsites, and proximity to Yosemite National Park. However, some drawbacks include limited water availability, noise from the camp host's generator, and the rustic facilities.

We enjoyed the Dimond O; it's close to a Yosemite entrance yet tucked back in the forest; our site was relatively private and surrounded by trees and bushes; it was quiet after the sun went down and we slept well; it provided the basic camping amenities of picnic table, fire pit, anti-bear food box and a level tent area. We'll return.

It was very pretty here! Very removed from civilization. We loved our stay and the camp hosts would drive by every night and ask if we needed firewood at all. The bathrooms were very clean as well.

Camp sites are well shaded, flat with a fire ring and picnic table. Vault toilets were cleaner and stocked with plenty of toilet paper. Camp hosts were very friendly and personable. This is my second time staying here and it won’t be my last.

Hetch Hetchy and Big Oak Flat Yosemite entrances are only a few miles away.

My boyfriend and I had a spot booked at Dimond O for our first night of three that we spent in the area exploring Yosemite. We were originally very impressed with the clean bathrooms and thoughtful touches of a trash bag and water jug at each site, but we were treated horribly by the camp hosts in the morning when we were packing up to leave. The 2 hosts (male/female) approached us in their golf cart and immediately demanded we pay them an additional $30, along with repeatedly threatening to report us to rec.gov (and thus preventing us from booking future campsites), because we moved to an open site directly next to the one we had booked (the first site was too small to fit our large tent). The site we moved to was marked available when we arrived and there were many other sites that remained available throughout the night. They refused any of our attempts at a calm conversation and numerous apologies. They proceeded to use force and intimidation by pulling their golf cart horizontally in front of my car, blocking us in and threatening our personal space and belongings, and then the man got out of the cart and approached my boyfriend and vehicle aggressively. My boyfriend held out $30 cash to him, which he grabbed and then continued to circle around my vehicle. This jarred both of us enough to leave us scared for our safety and feeling extremely threatened. We pointed out that we are courteous, seasoned campers, and were leaving the site just as clean as we found it, but the man continued to say he was going to report us anyway because he "didn't like our attitude", even after he had the $30 in hand. The hosts were much older than us and we felt like they used this to their advantaged to disrespect, threaten, and intimidate us over a small misunderstanding that could have been solved peacefully. I trusted that rec.gov would employ camp hosts that would make their campers feel safe and can only hope that future visitors will not be treated the way that we were.

Very quiet, clean bathroom. Hope to see showers when the COVID is over.

We love Dimond O. Its swimming hole was waist-deep for adults, even in August and in a drought! We spotted one big rattlesnake and lots of squirrels and crows. In case it isn't clear from the listing: pit toilets and spigots with fresh water are available; there are no sinks or showers. The campground hosts have firewood for sale (cash only) and are very friendly, driving around nightly to check on everyone. Their generator is so loud that we appreciated them only using it for a few hours at a time.
