Had a blast camping at Sherwin Creek Campground. Make sure to visit Convict Lake. The bear boxes provided at the campground was very roomy.

Farther out of town than the campgrounds of my earlier choices, but quiet and friendly, and the bears didn't come by to raise hell. I read that it was a mile and a half of gravel road driving to get there, but the road is paved for all but the last quarter mile, and the dirt road around the campground didn't send up much dust. Unlike those earlier campgrounds, it is too long a walk into town or to the local bus stop.

We have been coming to Sherwin Creek as a family for over 50 yrs. The past 2 yrs have had bear activity in camp. Many campers have had their motorhomes and trailers broken into by the bears, something should be done to by the forestry to relocate them away from the camp.

This campground is plenty close to the village, and five minutes away from Vons. Tons of shade, campsites nicely spaced apart. Firewood for sale. I'll definitely come here again.

Good camp spot, nice tree cover and firepit. Flat spots for two tent. Quite, clean pit toilet 🚻. Close enough to the creek for the sounds of running water to lull to sleep. One night, though the camp hosts made a point to tell everyone not to leave anything fragrant in their cars or trucks because there was a momma bear in the area, sure enough, a car alarm went off. No problem, except for those that don't listen to directions. Great time

Well maintained huge campsites. Close to Mammoth Lakes city yet felt like far out into the wilderness camping.

Campground (Site 30) was very quiet even on a Friday and Saturday night in July 2022. Site 74 had a little more noise from adjacent sites (music playing), but this was turned off well before bedtime. The toilets were reasonably well-maintained. There was a specially-identified threaded faucet for RV refills.
Sherwin Creek Road is essentially paved all the way from Old Mammoth Road to the campground, except perhaps for the last 0.2 mile and within the campground itself. Some on-line reports erroneously suggest that 1.5 miles of unpaved road are involved.

The campground sites are good size and the creek was flowing very nicely. I do wish there were more water spickets around the campground rather than just at the bathrooms. I plan on returning to Sherwin Creek Campground. Camp host was a really nice guy.
