What Guests Are Saying
Pinnacles Campground offers a beautiful natural setting with a variety of wildlife, well-maintained facilities, and easy access to numerous hiking trails, including the highly recommended Bear Gulch Cave trail. Campers appreciate the clean restrooms, hot showers, and generally private sites, making for a relaxing experience. While some noted issues with limited facilities and the presence of raccoons, overall, guests found the campground enjoyable and a great base for exploring the stunning landscapes of Pinnacles National Park.

Great everything except the actual size of the area where a trailer and car go. There is plenty of tent space but very narrow otherwise for side by side car/camper. We were in 114D next time we will book 115 too.

Very worth it hike to the caves thought start very early cuz it’s a solid 10 miles from the campground. Then take the cliff trail from the other side of the cave. Facilities are top notch.

Ample shade on this site for most of the day. During the evening is when the sun is beaming down. Store your food properly as well as anything scented. The raccoons here will be visiting at night and scavenging for anything they can get their hands on — they are smart enough to open your tent zippers.

I do not recommend this spot during the summer or during periods of heat waves. You will be exposed to the sun through most of the day.
Cell coverage: Verizon users will have no cell service but my gf with ATT had service.

I wish there were restrooms in the RV camper section. It was quite a long walk to the nearest bathroom, and we were in a popup without a bathroom. The sites were large and nice, and we loved having electricity so we could use the a/c in the afternoons. I was very grateful that the shuttles were running on Sat. as I got a ride back to the camprgound after a long day of hiking. There was a lot of wildlife, the trails were amazing and the pool was a great option although we didn't use it.

There is only electrical hook up, that's kind of inconvenient, but the camp has: (that works for me to stay for 4 nights)
-spigot for water which is close to the site
-dump station
If you have dog (not allowed in pinnacle park trails), you can walk them in Bacon Ranch where is next to campground
If you are senior (65 or older), the registration office refund 50% booking fee (that's nice)
overall, it's a nice camp

People around us were so loud until midnight. We couldn't sleep. Then the raccoons, oh boy. The raccoons are not afraid of humans. I had to hit one with a stick because it wouldn't run away.

Camped in one of the cabin tents at Pinnacles with my girls ages 6-13. They had the BEST time.
The good:
There is nature EVERYWHERE. It's hard to peel my girls away from electronics, but it was no trouble when every moment there was a quail family, deer family, a variety of song birds, and CONDORS to enjoy observing. I recommend bring binoculars.
The night sky is amazing! There is very little light pollution so you're in for a treat. We've been here for both a new moon and full moon. Both are spectacular, but I recommend coming during the new moon for extra bright star gazing.
There a variety of trails to meet your hiking needs. There are flat trails and high elevation trails of various lengths depending on what you're looking for. Along the trail you'll continue to see abundant wild life. I saw baby quail nuggets! They're so tiny! Just make sure you bring a lot of water if you are hiking in the summer. It is hot and often in full sun. If you're able to get up earlier, you can both avoid the heat and see more critters.
The campground is great for kids to ride their bikes around.
The bad:
Call ahead if you are excited about a specific feature. It is very hot in the summer and with kids I was counting on the pool to give them a chance to cool off in the heat of the day. The website, which I checked right before leaving, said it opened June 1st. We got there mid June and it was not open until the last day of our stay.
The caves are also subject to closure. When we got there the Bear Gulch Caves were closed, then the last day we were there, both caves were closed. It's nature and it happens, just make sure you call ahead if there's one thing you're really excited about.
Not really a bad, but be aware of the weather. It is hot in the summer day and quite cold at night if you are using the tent cabin or a tent. We camped in the winter last time and wished we had brought more warmth for the night!
