Lots of space on this camp site. Its located near the dumpster but its not loud at all. You're also located at the main fork of the road so some road noise does come through. Plenty of shade during the morning and evening, partial shade during the middle of the day. Compared to other camp sites, this one had good amounts of shade. Limited sizing flat camping area was a good touch so keep in mind of the 9x12 size limits. The parking space itself is quite big compared to other sites. You could fit a large size truck, but not anything with a trailer attached. Restroom was a bit of a hike but not to far off. Water stations were also very close by.

My location was perfect! Nearby the river and not to many guests around. Parking was right across from our site so easy access to our car and unloading was great! Spot 81 was perfect. The only bad thing was our firepit was broken, the grill was broken but we made it work. Amazing and beautiful spot.

Some of the campsites are quite small. They can require navigating narrow trails up to the site - at least 25 feet from the vehicle...which will be problematic for those with less mobility or those who bring more gear they need. It was nice to have the store there. Water is available in the camp, but we had to walk very far to get it - about 200 feet, and then you add the navigation up the hill and it makes the camping experience a bit less fun and relaxing than you may be expecting. That being said, this is a beautiful place to camp. Not all sites have trees overhead, but many do. There is a river running through the camp. The location cannot be beat.

Lodgepole is a great campground with all the amenities you need. I especially appreciate the free shuttle services that take you to general Sherman and other locations. The general store is well equipped. The restrooms across the grounds could be cleaner however.

lovely staff, lovely rangers on trail, campsite was perfect, car close by.
but…. washrooms were absolutely disgusting. sinks over flowing, one out of order, floor soaking wet with mud and dirt. only one usable toilet and even that was disgusting. went outside most of the time.

This site was good as it was by the river and pretty close to the market which had the showers. But no separation from site 54 and 53, just one giant lot. 55 also furthest walk from your designated parking than 52, 53, and 54. But being the furthest was nice too so you dont get bothered by other people accessing their cars. I still prefer 55 the most since it’s only directly next to site 54, not other sites. I have a walkthrough on tiktok of these sites if you want a better look: just look up “nxmarian lodgepole campground”

Amazing campground, location and experience! We saw deer, chipmunks, squirrels, a variety of birds, and plenty of signs of bears! The amphitheater was awesome and the ranger programs were incredibly helpful and fun. We loved the marketplace and the convenience of how close everything was that we wanted to do (General Sherman, Museum, hiking trails, meadows, etc.). One of the best camping trips we have had in a long time! Thank you!

The campground is clean and well-maintained, but nothing really special: sun exposed, close quarters with other campers, etc. That being said, it's a great jumping-off point for back country adventures, which is what we used it for. As a spot to get acclimated for a night or two before a big backpacking trip, I'd recommend it without hesitation.
As has been my experience almost everywhere, NPS staff were fantastic, whether they were offering trail condition reports, dispensing bear warnings, or cleaning bathrooms. Special thanks to the ranger who gave the evening presentation on plant evolution in the amphitheater: it was engaging, informative, and a great opportunity to meet our camp neighbors. It lifts my spirits to know that SEKI still does this kind of public programming.
Finally, kudos to SEKI planners for maintaining an adequate number of backpacker parking spaces. This is not the case everywhere, and it's definitely appreciated that we were able to head out on our trip without anxiety about where we'd had to leave the car.

Lodgepole campground is at the center of all the top attractions throughout Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Shuttles will take you to many popular locations like General Sherman and the Crescent Meadow so you can avoid parking during crowded hours. Don’t skip Hume lake and other great parts of Kings Canyon, though it is an hour drive it worth it! The highlight of this trip was the crystal caves, I was in pure amazement the entire time. Our tour guide was truly amazing and passionate about the caves which made it even better. Lastly, don’t miss the Huckleberry ice cream at the Lodgepole gift shop after a long hike!

Dangerous Rivers! Many drowning victims were playing near rivers. Rivers present a far greater danger than lakes or pools. Surfaces may look calm, but strong currents often run below. Be cautious walking near rivers as rocks can be slippery. Getting out of a cold, swift river is often impossible.
