Nice campground with great hikes and swimming holes. Restrooms can get gross and aren’t well kept.

Sites are really nice and have privacy. The location is just perfect, in the heart of the parks with easy access to the main trails. Staff friendly and kind. Toilets and showers could have been cleaner.

Lodgepole campground is within easy reach of some of the most beautiful places in the world. In addition to being among the beautiful giants, one can hike along a mountain stream with waterfalls, see bears and deer, then stretch out and listen to the sounds of birds and rushing water.

Great location. Nice opening between trees. Great view of sky and stars. Got sunny between 10-2pm but weather was only 70s during the day. Restrooms were ok, could be cleaned more often. Flushing toilets. 15min walk to lodgepole market and showers (very busy during afternoon). Market has everything you could imagine. Seriously. Snacks, food, burgers, blue bunny ice cream. Only 10min to General Sherman

Bathrooms were functional and clean but busy.
It was great having a water spigot outside the bath house.
Stayed two nights
Well monitored campground in effort to prevent bears entering campgrounds. No containers or any food related item can be left on picnic table without someone sitting at the table. No vehicle wheels off cement Camp store well stocked. Has ice.

The campground was really pretty. Some of the campsites are right next to each other which doesn’t allow for much privacy. We stayed in site 183 and had plenty of room with trees on either side, so it didn’t feel like we were sharing our space with neighboring campers.
Tokopah Falls trailhead was right around the corner from our site which was perfect as this was the hike I wanted to go on with my 12- and 15-year-old (who typically complain when I take them hiking). They took their time but didn’t complain once. It was a beautiful, easy hike along the river, amongst gorgeous trees, and ends at a scenic Mountain View with a waterfall and rocky terrain. People were playing in the river along the way and jumping in the pools of water at the end.
One of the downsides of the campground was the bathrooms. It was right in the middle of my loop, but it was annoying to get to and disgusting. I’m not one to complain (honestly, I camp with pit toilets all the time) and this bathroom had flush toliets, so I thought that was a plus. Unfortunately, they were very poorly maintained. I think all the toilet paper in the park was on the floors and flowing out of the trash cans. It looked like kids were going to the bathroom all over the floor. Needless to say, my “more private” campsite came in handy due to this issue. Not a deal breaker, but the campground should maintain their cleanliness.
Overall, I would stay here again with the right spot and a roll of toilet paper!!

Campsite was nice, parking spot was flat. Bathrooms were atrocious, even for a campsite it didn’t look like they’d been cleaned for a month. Small swimming hole was nice, and a short walk to the shuttle stop.

Dangerous Rivers! Many drowning victims were playing near rivers. Rivers present a far greater danger than lakes or pools. Surfaces may look calm, but strong currents often run below. Be cautious walking near rivers as rocks can be slippery. Getting out of a cold, swift river is often impossible.
