This is a really awesome campground. Our campsite was by the river, but there wasn't much flow so it wasn't quite what I had imagined. The campsite itself was really nice though, we could have a fire and it was a few minutes walk to the toilet block in a neighbouring loop. The visitor centre had good showers, shop, cafe etc, which was really useful. We had planned to walk all the way up the path along the river, but only had time to go a short way along. I would like to go further if we manage to come back here in the future. Really scenic location.

Its a walk to the camp site.. If you have a portable cart or dolly that helps on arrival and departure days otherwise plan 1+ hours extra to pack/unpack. Lodgepole has absolutely beautiful campsites, this one was shaded and a site away from the river. The only cell service is Verizon which works in the campground and some surrounding areas. I have a different carrier so I got a pay per use phone with a carrier on the Verizon network and filled it the week before I arrived, until I make that my main phone this is my Sequoia phone I refill each time I travel there.

Las instalaciones se ven deterioradas y descuidadas. Las regaderas necesitan estar en condiciones para ser usadas, ya que están sucias, incompletas y viejas, además que no funcionan todas, por lo que debes hacer fila para poder usarlas.

Pros:
- The campground was so beautiful. It was surrounded by stunning nature.
- They provided a picnic table and a bear box for keeping food.
Cons:
- The restroom is a major downside. First, the closest restroom was closed. Second, the functioning restroom was too far to walk and it was very very dirty like no one has ever come to clean it for few days. No toilet paper was available. All trash cans inside were overflowing. Trash and dirt on the floor. No soap was available. No hot water from the sink.
They really desperately need to improve their campground restroom asap.
We didn't want to use the restroom there as much so ended up just use it once before going to bed and another quick one in the morning. Then just went to a nearby lodge to use the restroom nicely there while having a breakfast in the lodge. The restroom there was sparkly clean (worth $30 meal) in contrast to the one in the campground.

Tent pad on the first sight we had selected was ice covered, but we were able to talk to a campground employee and they allowed us to move to the next site. Only two other camp sites being used on her first night and just one on her second night. Beautiful park

It was pretty nice in this time of the year. Easy access to the spot. Not much phone coverage if you have AT&T but Verizon worked wonders.

Awesome campground. Arrived a few days after an 8 inch snowfall, so water was turned off and restrooms closed in our loop. (Thus 4 stars instead of 5). Recreation.gov had sent us a warning that this was happening. Not too many neighbors in the cold, so had a nice calm vacation. Campsite fairly level.

The bathroom near campsite 170 was deplorable. The sink was awful and disgusting, and the bathroom was never cleaned during the four days we stayed at the campground. I took pictures and would be happy to share them with you.

Dangerous Rivers! Many drowning victims were playing near rivers. Rivers present a far greater danger than lakes or pools. Surfaces may look calm, but strong currents often run below. Be cautious walking near rivers as rocks can be slippery. Getting out of a cold, swift river is often impossible.
