Very cramped and crowded. Few restrooms and poorly maintained. Sites 1-11 are just a few feet from the main road on which the shuttle buses run every 10 minutes. Awful, just awful.
On the plus side, great location, great hiking trails, beautiful scenery.

Amazing location, Tokopa Valley starts right at the campsite! Lodgepole Village made the camping trip super easy with a store, showers, and a cafeteria. Also, it’s a very easy drive or shuttle ride to all the major attractions - General Sherman, Moro Rock, Crescent Meadow, and Crystal Cave. Site has a good amount of space as well, but shade is somewhat sparse.

Beautiful, not packed. Easy access to free shuttles to move around the park. Showers, shop and market with fair prices.

We loved this location. It was very private and offered a lot of room. We were able to get a 10x9 tent comfortably here. The fire pit was one of the bigger, round metal pits. We did not see any bear during our three nights there. There was a little bit of a walk to the bathroom. The bathroom accessible for this area when we first arrived was pretty bad. There was no toilet paper and only two of the four stalls were functional. They were cleaned on our second day there. Other than that I would definitely come back to this site again.

We loved the campground, overall. The sound of the river muffled the normal campground noises of passing vehicles, car doors, and loud neighbors. Our kids had ample room to play and we felt safe letting them roam. The campsites are a little cramped, but that wasn’t too bad. The site was well-equipped with a good picnic table, fire ring, and level tent pad. Our one major complaint, which is a common theme among National Parks, is that the restrooms and showers were disgusting. Just a little bit of effort to keep them clean would go a long way, but that’s clearly a very low priority for the park service.

Site 42 was better then expected , yes it’s a walk to site , but if your prepared for that , it’s not too bad , for the site itself , we had a lot of space enough for two 6 person tents, terrain is a little rocky but we didn’t mind it , the river front is a beautiful view , and the trees nearby offered a good amount of shade.

Campsite was comfortable; there was no water but nobody seemed to know when it would be turned back on. Campsite bathrooms were clean. Shower room could use more toilets; also some showers took money but did not provide any water.
Hike to Topakah Falls was very nice as was Crystal Caves.

Site 81, upper loop. Practically right next to river, right near parking and a bathroom. Perfect site, quiet neighbors, (if anything we were the loud ones with a toddler), the general store had everything we could’ve needed, absolutely plan on staying again in the future.

We had a great experience. We lucked out with a spot right next to the river, which made for a beautiful view and natural white noise that completely drowned out any neighboring campers. It felt super peaceful and private. The site was spacious, and aside from a small anthill (which wasn’t a huge deal), it was really clean and well-maintained. Just a heads up, it does get pretty cold at night, even in the summer, so definitely come prepared with layers or a good sleeping bag. Would absolutely camp here again.

Dangerous Rivers! Many drowning victims were playing near rivers. Rivers present a far greater danger than lakes or pools. Surfaces may look calm, but strong currents often run below. Be cautious walking near rivers as rocks can be slippery. Getting out of a cold, swift river is often impossible.
