What Guests Are Saying
Sunset Campground is praised for its beautiful sunset views, clean facilities, and convenient location near major attractions in Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Many visitors enjoyed the serene atmosphere, ample hiking opportunities, and friendly staff. However, some noted issues with noise from neighboring sites and varying site sizes, which could impact the camping experience. Overall, it's a lovely spot that many would return to despite a few drawbacks.

Well-maintained campground and better facilities than most (flush toilets, sink with running water for washing dishes, and tools to clear ash from fire pit and leaves from ground). Would recommend booking a site on the west side of the campground to enjoy sunsets without having to walk over there. Location is also good for visiting both Kings Canyon and Sequioa National Parks, as it's in between with about an hour drive to each.

The first time we stayed here was during the start of the pandemic and every other site was in use. It was great! But I didn't realize how close the sites would have been if every site was used.
Until this trip. Every site was packed! I saw 2 sites open in the whole campground. The signs say max 3 tents yet our neighbors had 5. Our site was so close to them, we barely had any space for our 3-person tent! And the non-stop blaring music from many sites was obnoxious!
Many sites should not be sites at all! They're on hills, no flat area for a tent, on top of neighbors, etc. the bathrooms were a mess. In the 3 days there our toilet block ran out of toilet paper every day around dinner.
The money the NPS is making off of camping is not worth the poor experience of terrible camping sites provided. Reduce the number of sites and give guests the experience of a National park they came for.

I’ve been camping at Kings Canyon for 57 years. The most gorgeous place on earth. Sunset campground is one of the most scenic and beautiful campgrounds.

The location of Sunset Campground is very nice, within walking distance to general store and visitors center. Restrooms have flush toilets and electricity. However, the campground was pack with people. They put way too many sites in this campground so you will not have any privacy. Several sites have the picnic tables very close to each other. To me, this is not a good campground to stay for couple of reasons: a) fire hazard if people need to pack and leave their site b) no privacy.

The campsite is good and has the necessary things (fire pit, picnic table) in good order. However, it's a little small compared to other camp sites I've been to. The restroom closest to our site was clean but small and did not have a sink for washing vessels. Overall it was a good experience.
