What Guests Are Saying
Sunset Campground is praised for its beautiful sunset views, clean facilities, and convenient location near major attractions in Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Many visitors enjoyed the serene atmosphere, ample hiking opportunities, and friendly staff. However, some noted issues with noise from neighboring sites and varying site sizes, which could impact the camping experience. Overall, it's a lovely spot that many would return to despite a few drawbacks.

I’ve been camping at Kings Canyon for 57 years. The most gorgeous place on earth. Sunset campground is one of the most scenic and beautiful campgrounds.

The location of Sunset Campground is very nice, within walking distance to general store and visitors center. Restrooms have flush toilets and electricity. However, the campground was pack with people. They put way too many sites in this campground so you will not have any privacy. Several sites have the picnic tables very close to each other. To me, this is not a good campground to stay for couple of reasons: a) fire hazard if people need to pack and leave their site b) no privacy.

The campsite is good and has the necessary things (fire pit, picnic table) in good order. However, it's a little small compared to other camp sites I've been to. The restroom closest to our site was clean but small and did not have a sink for washing vessels. Overall it was a good experience.

We didn’t expect the campground to be full of campers but we remembered it was summer and we arrived there on Friday so it made sense why there was a lot of noise. I thought each campsite gets their own individual parking spot but no. We got stuck with sharing our parking spot with a campsite next to us. Read carefully through the campsite info if you don’t want to share a parking spot. Also try to figure out if the campsite is on a hill. From driving around the campground, almost the entire campground is on an incline. We had no choice but to set up camp on an incline. Because of that we didn’t sleep too good. The only thing we didn’t like was that someone or a group of people trespassed onto our site and used our hammock when we weren’t there. My boyfriend got near our hammock and noticed a cigarette bud and 3 empty cans of soda on the floor. Out of all the times I’ve gone camping, that has never happened to me. Beware of crowded campgrounds and read carefully through campsite info.

Great spot but not sure if it was good or bad that I did not see one ranger for the Park. I had a few questions but not that big of a deal. I will be back!

I was in space #32. There was no flat ground. Everything was tilted. Because of that, cooking was slow, and sleeping in our tent was awkward.
I love the park. This campground is great. The site that I stayed at, not so much. I will definitely return.

Terrible site. No shade after about 10am, site is not flat so your tent will be at an angle, and apparently the view is so good people randomly walk into/thru your site to check out the sunset.
