What Guests Are Saying
Gore Creek Campground is praised for its beautiful setting near the creek, providing a peaceful and private atmosphere with well-maintained facilities, including exceptionally clean bathrooms. Many guests appreciate the convenient access to Vail and nearby hiking and biking trails. However, some reviewers noted issues with noise from I-70 and the lack of water and campfires, alongside occasional challenges with campground management and site reservations. Overall, it remains a popular choice for campers seeking a serene experience close to outdoor activities.

A wonderful campsite right next to the creek—sleeping to the sound of the water was incredibly enjoyable.
The host was very welcoming and amazing.
Unfortunately, campfires were not allowed.
But overall, the place is beautiful and well-kept, located right by the river, especially sites #10 and #11, along with some other spots deeper into the forest.
The restrooms were spotless and sparkling clean.
It’s less than a 10-minute drive to Vail, and you can reach many places within a maximum of 30 minutes.

The site was clean and quiet. There are lots of hiking and walking trails close to and around the campsite and river. There's also a Large trail parking lot a few minutes up the road. Great for parking aftet checkout. The campsite is also at the starting point of one of the best biking trails around. I rode my bike from here to Breckenridge, a 64 mile round trip. All paved and incredibly well maintained with great signage. I was on an e-bike which is recommended as you do pass through Vail pass.

This campground is really a pretty place. Lots of shade and a creek running right next to it. The camp post when I was there was very pleasant and helped me find a great spot. About 5 miles from Vail, it’s very convenient and close to everything in the area.

Outstanding campground. Feels remote but close to Vail and many trails and outdoor activities. Bathrooms spotlessly clean! Kudos to the camp hosts!

My wife and I read the stage 2 fire restrictions before visiting Gore Creek, both for Eagle County and on the Gore Creek Campground website. The restrictions detail that liquid/gas devices, with an on/off switch or dial, are allowed. We ran our propane fire pit the first evening and had the campground host come around and tell us that it was not allowed. We mentioned the websites and he responded with "oh really..."....he had not understood that. The next morning, I asked a more knowledgeable couple who were hosts for the day about our fire pit. She responded with "They are fine, sorry you had that happen. Go ahead and enjoy it." So we ran our fire pit the next evening and had an angry "volunteer" come into our site concerned about our fire pit. This dampened our experience and made us feel like criminals when we were operating within the rules. Would be nice if Gore Creek posted the Stage 2 rules on the physical sign at the entrance to the campground,

My tent site was beautiful and private, pit toilets pristine. The only thing to be aware of is that the noise from I-70 is deafening, all night long. If I had thought to bring noise canceling headphones it would have been a 5 star experience.

Campsites are OK. Needed to level our class C. If you have bikes the ride into Vail Village was great. Some hills, but no problem since we had electric bikes. Gore creek was not easy to fish, lots of rocks,

The date for camp site i booked was said only available 6 monthe prior so i logged in at the exact time it said for 6 months and there was only ever walk in sites this campground ground never had any drive in sites you have campers camping free in the parking lot of the walk in sites so there is no room to park if you get a walk in site and lots of locals using the place as a homeless car camp when there is a rest area 8 miles down the road ! Not the best amenity's no running water I give this place a solid 4/10 due to the over use and no amenity’s ! I pay Colorado state 30 bucks I get a shower and water !!!! Even if they use solar ! And I have to pay for a shower we’re not walking into camps either !
