What Guests Are Saying
Gore Creek Campground is praised for its beautiful setting near the creek, providing a peaceful and private atmosphere with well-maintained facilities, including exceptionally clean bathrooms. Many guests appreciate the convenient access to Vail and nearby hiking and biking trails. However, some reviewers noted issues with noise from I-70 and the lack of water and campfires, alongside occasional challenges with campground management and site reservations. Overall, it remains a popular choice for campers seeking a serene experience close to outdoor activities.

Beautiful campground. Especially if you can get next to the creek. Can access bike trails from the campground.

This place is a gem. So cool having it so close to Vail, but at the end of a dead end road. Hiking and biking, great scenery and a water feature-the lovely Gore Creek.

Reserved campsite #12 at Gore Creek. Received a voicemail from campground host afternoon before reservation start date that site was closed by National Forest Service due to safety concerns with the potential for trees dropping into the site and injuring campers. Understand the circumstances but did not receive an email notification from recreation.gov until the day AFTER my reservation started that the site needed to be vacated same day. Was placed into another site upon arrival by the campground host (Lauren) - kuddo's to her in taking the initiative to assist displaced campers. Tried calling the NF regional office for information and could not get a response - line was always busy. Campground Host gets an 'A+', the Forest Service gets an 'F' for their general level of incompetence related to their poor 'closure' and communications plan.

Gorgeous campsite!!! The bathrooms were the cleanest I've seen. A bear box and picnic table are provided. But a few things were unfortunate:
1. They have a very fine powdery dirt at the campsite which stuck to everything. I've never been to a campsite with it before so if you have children or dogs they will get extremely dirty.
2. The firewood we purchased here was awful. It wasn't under a cover and was wrapped in plastic but I think it will got wet because we could not keep our fire going and tried so very hard. Just smoke.
3. It is very close to I-70 so we could hear traffic, especially at night time.
4. The small trash bins were very full.
Also FYI black bears are very prevelant in the area so be prepared!

Site 12 has great access to gore creek. We hung out in the creek a lot and hiked upstream with no one else around. There is good separation between sites. The bathroom are super clean and surprisingly had 2 ply tp.
It is close to Vail and the highway, but you dont hear that. Unfortunately, unless we were in the creek, you can hear construction of an on ramp very close during the day. Trucks backing up beeps. Hopefully that project doesn't last too long. Also had a lot of flys during day at the end of July, but at least they don't bite.
