The campsite was awesome! I like that there were bushes and shrubs that made the campsite seem private as opposed to right next to other people camping.
The Rim Trail leaving the campground to the visitor center was incredible!! I highly recommend this hike. Also, Warner's Point Trail was very cool.
Montrose isn't too far away, so if you need to stock up on food or water before you go, it's a great place to go.
The campsite does provide water but it is transported up and I am sure during busy seasons, it may run out. So take water with you anyways.

perfectly happy experience. being in the park makes a BIG difference. We had plenty of space for a 30ft trailer and truck. Park staff was very friendly at every turn. Wish we could've stayed longer

GReat campground. Savanah was a super interpetive ranger. Very good speaker and kept everyones attention with her enthusiasm for her subject and audience. Visitor center was very imformative. Campground was clean and well maintained.

Campsites were small. Did not expect them to be basically roadside turnouts. No generators allowed per the ONE sign in only ONE bathroom (huh??). No outdoor showers, no use of water for dishwashing..... also on the ONE sign in the BATHROOM ..... imagine a very narrow road with campers on each side heel to toe.... that's this place

My wife and I had a very nice time in the campground. Nothing fancy about it; just a quiet, clean and beautiful place, especially on a great autumn day/night. One suggestion would be to let campers know if the fire danger is high enough to prohibit campfires. Or, maybe I just missed the sign giving that information. PS, I had never heard of this National Park prior to our visit. It is definitely a well-kept secret and a true national treasure.

The Black Canyon of the Gunnison is gorgeous and yet another beautiful national park to visit. The canyon views are stunning and majestic and the fall colors are overwhelmingly lovely. While I can appreciate rustic and charming, the trees and bushes are severely overgrown with many fire pits actually located UNDER hanging tree branches. The campground was clean and the ranger programs were fun and informative.

Campground is very tight, and many RV spots that say they are pull through are really just a pull off on the side of the narrow road that runs through the campground, so definitely research your site beforehand, especially if you have a larger camper. FF sites fill up fast and early, so reservations definitely recommended.
