Campsite-Size OK, Privacy could be better, Neighborhood al little to near. Restrooms OK. No View to the Canyon or somewhere else of the landscape.

We loved staying at this campsite. It was a little narrow, but plenty of space to fit our small two person tent. We had a nice fire in the provided firepit and the parking spot was only a few feet away. The bathroom was a maybe a 3-4 minute walk. The best part of the campsite was the attached trailhead. We entered the Rim Rock Trail at the campground which led to the visitor center. We were then able to hike the Oak Flat Trail which branched into the Uplands trail and looped all the way back right down the street from our campsite.

Stayed in site 34 on loop A. Very quiet and private, lots of foliage surrounding the site. We were there in June when the wildflowers were in bloom- very pretty!

Our site (B014) had a 4-foot round and over 1-foot-high bolder right in the middle of the site even though it was supposed to be able to accommodate a 30-foot trailer. I tried to put the rock on the driver's side of the trailer, but then the door opened into a tree/bush. We ended up having to have this boulder right under the trailer. But could not back all the way in because it would hit the axle. The Park Ranger we spoke with said to post a review. The rock needs to be removed from the site.

Pros: There’s lots of shade and you’re already inside the park so you definitely don’t need to drive far to do the park things. There is also a trail leading to the visitor’s center that’s gorgeous in the morning. The wildflowers were beautiful. I suggest taking the little road just off the entrance that goes down into the canyon to the river. It’s super windy and a 16% grade but worth the anxiety.
Cons: Spots are tiny and there’s virtually no privacy. I have a 21ft wolf pup and couldn’t pull in because our neighbor had a larger rig and his truck. I had to knock on their door to ask them to move their truck at 10pm when we arrived.

A very nice small campground. We loved the secluded feeling staying in the park, even though we were only 20 minutes out from Montrose. There is minimal shade available at sites which made the hot afternoon tough, but there are many great trails to do that weave between the campgrounds the visitor center, and the canyon rim.

Such a beautiful park! We do the hike to the bottom of the canyon. So glad we did. But it was one of the toughest we have ever done.
