What Guests Are Saying
Pinon Flats Campground is well-regarded for its friendly camp host, Nancy, and beautifully maintained facilities, including clean restrooms and stunning views of the sand dunes. The campground offers a peaceful atmosphere, ample tree cover, and easy access to hiking trails. However, some sites are small and not fully accessible for individuals with mobility challenges, and issues with noise from other campers have been noted. Overall, it is a memorable camping experience with great amenities.

One of the best campgrounds I’ve had the pleasure of staying at. Easy parking and accessible campsites that were relatively flat. The bathrooms were clean and modern. Only downside were the mosquitoes but I will only suggest people bring bug spray or mosquito netting. The bear boxes were located close to the site and the parking area making everything convenient. It was also an easy walk to the sand dunes from the campsite.

Beautiful views! Proximity to the dunes can’t be beat. During our stay in early July, mosquitoes were unbearable.

You have everything here to enjoy a stay for a night or a week! The campground is right in front of the dunes. You can walk from you RVs to the dunes or enjoy the forest. The spaces are all equipped, you have a dump and a water station. I would come back with no hesitations!

This is a spectacular campground. Our site had beautiful views of the dunes and the mountains and the large pinion trees provided some shade. The campground is near the river/beach and walk into the dunes though it is still a bit of a hike with a gradual uphill all the way back but people have the option of driving to the park's parking lot for a shorter hike. There are also great hikes around the area. For RV/trailers, our site was quite sloped and we had to get creative to level the trailer.

The campsite we were at had zero shade and it made for a super uncomfortable visit. It would be helpful if there were more and/or better photos of each campsite, but make sure to take a close look at the ones that are there before booking.

A very nice clean campground. The trail down to the dunes/creek is a bit lengthy so plan accordingly when taking things down.

We had a pull thru spot for our 24ft RV, which looked like it was one of the few sites that had a shaded parking area. It was a little tight and we had better luck backing in, but the site was nice and had a little view of the dunes. Overall a great campground! It was a little longer walk to the dunes than expected from the campground, but still beats fighting the day use crowds. It was windy one night and raining the next, so no campfires for us . The camp host was nice, and there was a small store in the campground for basic supplies (and ice cream!) with a very nice woman running it. Also, the ranger program was fun with Ranger Patrick playing his guitar. We would stay here again! (Also, expect to be removing sand from every crack and crevice once you get home!)

The mosquitos were ferocious at the beginning of July. The restrooms were delightfully clean and the water tasted good! Driving aluminum tent stakes in the gravel campsites is a challenge.
