What Guests Are Saying
Pinon Flats Campground is well-regarded for its friendly camp host, Nancy, and beautifully maintained facilities, including clean restrooms and stunning views of the sand dunes. The campground offers a peaceful atmosphere, ample tree cover, and easy access to hiking trails. However, some sites are small and not fully accessible for individuals with mobility challenges, and issues with noise from other campers have been noted. Overall, it is a memorable camping experience with great amenities.

The campground was very clean and close to the Dunes. We had a 24ft travel trailer with a full size 4 door truck and it was pretty tight getting into our spot but worked out well. The restrooms were very nice with water & flush toilets. Spots were a bit close to each other, but it was well worth the visit.

The fact is, due to the very cold temperatures, I didn't camp at Great Sand Dunes Natl. Park.

Clean, quite, short hike to sand dunes. We slept in out roof top tent, and the pull in spot was sloped just right for that. Camp host stopped in to check on us while making her rounds.

Great stay here even with the shutdown ongoing. Bathrooms were clean, however one of the two sinks in the woman's room didn't work, there was no hand dryer and the soap ran out at one point. The camp store wasn't open but it seemed it may have been unrelated to the shutdown. It's a windy area but our site was relatively protected from the worst of the wind. Our site was very close to the start of the Medano primitive road so there were more vehicles driving past than expected, but it wasn't too disruptive. Beautiful views, mule deer wandering through our site, and lots of fun to be had on the dunes.

This was such a lovely stop on our roadtrip! The sites were clearly marked, facilities were in great condition and extremely clean, and the host was so sweet!

Site was longer than I expected. Well maintained campground and quiet. Camp host greeted me by name soon after I pulled in. Very nice lady (Jeanie?) Great views of the dunes from the site.

Site has no shade, on a slight slope. Short trail from the campground to the dunes. Clean restrooms (no showers).
