About Heaton Bay

Heaton Bay Campground is situated at an elevation of 9,000 feet and centrally located for recreation and relaxation in the White River National Forest. There is little or no shade in the campground due to pine beetle infestation and the removal of hazard trees, but the sites offer open views to Dillon Reservoir and several mountain ranges.

Besides the stunning views the amazingly clean rest rooms stood out. It felt like being in a oasis away from town, but yet so close. The campground and campsites were well maintained, but still felt like being in a National Forest. The host, Wayne, was very helpful and provided us with a local bike map.

Love Heaton Bay! The bike path is so convenient, the sites are mostly secluded, the hosts are nice….and the views are spectacular.
