Heaton Bay

We were in Loop A and there was no restroom not even a pit toilet or any running water.

If you are a cyclist, you could not ask for a better location to access the network of bike paths that go to Vail, Breckinridge, Keystone, and around Lake Dillon. If not, you’d still enjoy this beautiful campground. The drawbacks are pit toilets and no showers, and the campground has no dump station. Even using your own camper’s facilities, a long stay could be a problem if you fill up your waste tanks. The pit toilets are kept in an immaculate condition with no odors, so that’s not too bad, but I’d say the lack of a dump station is a big drawback.

Site in loop C was great

Camper would not fit in site. No other sites available for our four night reservation. They need to keep some sites open for this situation.
Host was able to find a site for one night. Got $3 refund after canceling the remaining nights after Recreation.gov’s cancellation fees and “late cancellation” assessment. Need to go back to the Feds handling this instead of the third party “money grabbers” that you can’t even speak with.
