Our first time in this site, it's 'exposed' as the camp road wraps around it, the paths from other sites to the lake go through it and you are kind of on a little knoll. With that said, if the lake were full it seems like it would be a great location as the water would be close, however on our visit it was just a short walk away. The elevation affords great views to the peaks that surround Summit county. Things must have changed since last year, the campground host never stopped to give us a day pass that could be used at either Giberson bay or Peak day use area. No worries, we never needed their assistance and if we did we know they occupy a space in the electric loop. Can't wait to return to Heaton Bay for paddle boarding, bike riding and shopping at the many stores in the area. Cautionary note - if you think you'll walk over for an afternoon Starbucks - think again. The lobby was always closed and the drive was closed by 2pm. There is a coffee shop in the brewery over near the Whole Foods - they are open 7 to 4 and happy to make you a chai or mocha.

Great location, excellent campground, wonderful hosts. The only thing that would make it better would be hookups throughout.

We stayed in site E61. It is one of the most private site in E-Loop. While not very wide, it was more than long enough for our 24-foot rig. A foot path goes through the site. The downside is that people walk through this site. The upside is that the path leads about .2 of a mile to a beach. Turning to the left at the beach and continuing to your left along the water, you will eventually walk past the osprey and heron nests.

Great campground. We were near other people but still felt like we had privacy. Bathrooms were very clean and the water here was the best tasting we had on our entire roadtrip

Clean facilities. Everything organized. The best campground hosts ever. Especially Caroline. One of my favorite campgrounds I’ve ever stayed in.
