Heaton Bay Campground is my top choice in the area for the following reasons: 1) It's nicely treed. 2) Sites are paved for easy set up of my A-Frame camper. 3) A paved bike trail is easily accessible. 4) It's clean (including the restrooms) and well maintained 5) It's evenly located between Frisco and Dillon each within minutes either by car or bike.

The sites are big enough that you don’t feel penned in and you have some privacy. The view is incredible and the host was one of the most pleasant that I have encountered. Very convenient to the highway.

Beautiful campground. BUT There needs to be some serious updating done on the sites. The length of the site we reserved from the website was several feet shorter than stated and it was very difficult for us to make our camper & vehicle fit in that tight spot. We almost damaged our 5th wheel and pickup truck. Improvements could easily be made to make the sites longer and wider with a backhoe. There is plenty of room to make these sites bigger. Also somebody needs to re measure the length of the sites. This oversight is not acceptable.

This was a very enjoyable place to stay. Great views! Restrooms were clean! It’s located right next to the bike path and is a great way to ride to Frisco for activities. I just wish they had a dump station at least.
