What Guests Are Saying
Lowry Campground is praised for its beautiful views, cleanliness of facilities, and convenient location near towns like Breckenridge and Frisco, making it ideal for outdoor activities. Many reviewers appreciated the friendly camp hosts and the well-maintained environment. However, some noted issues with close campsite proximity, limited water access, and difficulties for larger trailers, suggesting a need for caution when booking certain sites.

I had a wonderful experience from the moment I arrived. I met the camp host Kurt (or Curt?) upon arrival. I had a 5 night reservation with a campsite change after the third night. Kurt was very cordial and you could tell he enjoyed his work. The bathrooms were clean and I saw him attend to them at least twice daily, the campsites were well kept, electrical hook ups no issues, multiple areas to access water if needed, although I was self contained. The campsites were full, but the camp was surprisingly quiet except for occasional laughter over campfires or kids having fun. It didn’t hurt that the weather was as amazing as the views. A great place to enjoy some comforts of home while in the mountains. For anyone who reads this and spends the night at Lowry, please say hello to Kurt for me!

Clean camp and restrooms, limited level big rig sites, walk in tent sites pretty removed from parking. Glad we had electricity because it reached 30 degrees the night we were there. Nice views of the mountains but not of the lake. Must have been a good year for wild roses because the rose hips were more than abundant. Bear boxes at every site, vert handy for tenters.

The campground is beautiful and well kept. It was annoying the water was shut off during our stay- an added inconvenience. The map is deceiving as we booked site 13 which is near the bathroom, but didn’t look too close on the map. When we got there, it was right on top of the bathroom. We wanted to change reservations and the camp host would not allow it (even though the website says you can modify reservations). He said they could turn the bright light off at night since that was the main issue and then he never did. When I asked about it, he brushed it off and said he couldn’t actually turn the light off with no accountability of his original promise. I understand if the light can’t be turned off for safety purposes, but the lack of integrity for saying he would do it and then not following up until I addressed it rubbed me the wrong way. If you’re tent camping and don’t want a bright light blasting into your tent all night, don’t book site 13. There’s another bathroom right where the camp host stays that doesn’t have a light (odd choice, thought it was needed for safety). Stay in a site around there if you want to actually sleep with the enjoyment of nature and not fluorescent lighting in your face while trying to sleep. Overall, I would stay here again because of the location and the views. I would definitely not stay in site 13 or want to interact with the camp host again though.

Campsite was too close to the neighboring site, so not much privacy. Water was out of service (and NOT due to seasonal shutdown) which was a nuisance. No view at all of the reservoir - which was a surprise. Overall the campground was a disappointment.

Campsites in the middle are very close together and there is hardly any privacy. The camp host, however, was very nice and there is beautiful scenery. But you could hear every word of all conversations from the nearby campsites...plus no shade and no water was available at the time.

The attendant at the park was amazing! He worked tirelessly keeping the restrooms and the sites immaculate. We have extensively traveled, but haven't found anyone as detail-oriented as this man was.
Our experience was perfect!

Campers must occupy the site the first night at a campsite. This prevents booking the site for Fri-Sun and showing up on Saturday. |
| General |
Campers may leave the site for 24 hours and must occupy the site otherwise. This allows a camper to say go for an overnight backpack trip in the woods for one night and come back to their campsite the next day. |
