About Lowry Campground

At an elevation of 9,320 feet, Lowry Campground is located between Summit Cove and Breckenridge, Colorado in the White River National Forest. This campground is in close proximity to Dillon Reservoir and a handful of trails, making it an ideal setting for guests seeking recreation and relaxation. I think we got the best camping site there. It was quiet but rained a lot. The toilets were spotless. No showers here.

The tent sites are very close together and there is almost no shade. The view is okay but nothing spectacular. The location is very close to Dillon and Silverthorne with lots of good hiking trails nearby and of course the lake.
The bathrooms are very clean and the host, Kurt, is fantastic. Fantastic.

Overall our trip was good! The park is majority RVs, a nice area with super clean restrooms. There is minimal to no shade. Our campsite has zero trees so it was hot!

I had 2 issues with our stay. I was super disappointed to find out that although you can reserve for 2 cars, they will charge you for the second car in cash or check. Pretty shady & misleading when you book that they don’t make that clear.

My second issue was we were celebrating a birthday. We had 5 people total and had a great afternoon grilling, playing music and chatting out under the sun. We started a campfire as the sun started to set around 8 and we’re just chatting by it. Music was turned off by 9:30/10 and by 10:30 we were approached aggressively that we had to put the fire out and go to bed because quiet hours started. We were not being loud, and the ONLY tent in the main campground this day…so everyone else was watching movies and playing board games in their campers. We were right next to the campground host, which was probably part of it.. but We had no where else to go. Pretty crappy way to end the night and will likely be the reason we never return.

Camp host was great. Sites weren’t too close together. Bathrooms were clean. Nice views of the surrounding mountains. Not a lot of mature trees, so bring your own shade.

Our particular site felt a bit cramped with only one tiny flat area but the campground location is clutch with great views. The bathrooms were also very clean

This is a forest service campground and the only one with any services. Only electric at each site. There were the occasional water spigots here and there but not at each site. There was no dump station at all. Unable to dump tanks after 5 days was a pain. Other than that the views were spectacular and the area is beautiful in the summer. Lots of hiking and biking in the areas as well.
