What Guests Are Saying
Petersburg Campground is a beautiful and well-maintained site with spacious, clean campsites and friendly staff, making it a peaceful place to enjoy nature. Many visitors appreciate the gorgeous scenery, access to the lake, and the opportunity to see wildlife like armadillos and woodpeckers. Although there are some lingering effects from Hurricane Helene, including tree damage and a need for improvements in certain facilities, overall feedback suggests a positive camping experience.

I was on site 35. My problem is with most campsites at Petersburg. The driveways have deep ruts making it hard to get in and out of most campsites. The pads are no longer level. Most of the steps are in very poor shape and washed out. Pads also hold water if it rains.

Petersburg is a spacious beautiful Campground. The only negative would be deep ruts on sites 34, 35.

The showers are awesome. Bathroom clean. Nice place for camping without having to be right next to other campers. There are tree breaks between campsites.

Nice spots most have there own little lake front swimming areas. Free washer and dryer and clean bathrooms. Only thing i didn't like was the spot i got was small, and people didn't care about quiet hours and left trash behind and were very rude. Other than that i had a good time at this park.

Had heard about the Corps of Engineers Campgrounds through an owners forum. Needed a place to park for a couple of nights on the way to a teacher training and located Petersburg through the Recreation.Gov website.
Website was very user friendly. Was able to select the site I wanted. Check in was quick and easy with everything being explained by someone who has done this many time.
Roads and sites are clearly marked and mine (75) was super easy to back into. Nailed it the first try.
Most sites in this campground are within 100 feet of the water. Many share small beaches for you to go down and lounge at the water's edge.
Water and Electrical are well positioned for however your RV is configured. Dump station on the way out is easy in and easy out.
If we every get the chance to get back this way with the RV, we will stay here again. For a longer stay.

This is a large site, a combination of pull-thru/back in that has it's own gravel driveway and is set apart from the other campsites offering great privacy. The water access is great with built in steps and a path ending in a small sandy beach area. The fire ring and barbecue grill are in good working order, the picnic table could use a little work and the overhead light pole was broken and needs to be replaced. Bathhouse is a bit of a trek, but was clean and well appointed. This could be easily my favorite site at Petersburg in good weather, unfortunately, we got a bit of rain during our stay. Just a small amount of rain turns the entire camping pad into a mud pit. We took advantage of a small break in the weather to pack up, and went home a day early.
