What Guests Are Saying

Petersburg Campground features friendly staff and well-maintained, clean facilities, making it a pleasant place to stay. Many campers appreciate the spacious, diverse sites and beautiful views, despite ongoing recovery from Hurricane Helene, which has affected some amenities and scenery. While there are some drawbacks, such as restroom accessibility and low lake water levels, the overall experience remains positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

My husband and I are both retired and do a lot of camping, this was our favorite campground so far and it’s only an hour and a half from home!

Bring a bicycle
It’s a great campground for biking
The sites are very dusty, which is the only drawback
And some sites would be nicer if the trees were trimmed so there’s a lake view

Bring poison ivy killer! Lots of poison ivy on our site, probably on others as well. The lake is great but can get a little rough from boats or weather.

We really enjoy this place! The facilities are very clean and all the campsites are well groomed. We come here to go mountain biking, kayaking and paddle boarding. So much to do here.

Mostly nice level roomy campsites, most of them shaded, almost all have lake access or at least view of lake. Good swimming beach, great boating, fishing pier. Clean but simple bathhouses, showers and 1 washer/dryer. Ice and convenience store about 2 mi down the road. Bike trail access

Overall a very spacious and well maintained camping area. I stayed at #31 and there are a few observations I'd like to share. 1st: the power and water hook up isn't located to the back side of your rig. you are going to find it at the front rear and will require some parking modifications to reach the utilities (need 50' power and hose). 2nd. The exit road is loose gravel and has a significant grade. Lost traction and required some additional skill to pull the rig out. Be careful, you can get stuck easily. Over all 31 is very spacious, clean, flat and right on the water with a very little trail and small area to access the lake. Other than pulling out, the trip was amazing. Great camping area.
