What Guests Are Saying
Petersburg Campground features friendly staff and well-maintained, clean facilities, making it a pleasant place to stay. Many campers appreciate the spacious, diverse sites and beautiful views, despite ongoing recovery from Hurricane Helene, which has affected some amenities and scenery. While there are some drawbacks, such as restroom accessibility and low lake water levels, the overall experience remains positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Wonderful experience! Host was nice and friendly. Very quiet place. Great kayaking and biking. Loved the Bartram trail. Herons and beaver greeted us each morning. Definitely a great place!

Always a joy to be at Petersburg! The boat ramp was still great to use even though the water level is down. Eddie and Brenda are fantastic camp hosts and always pleasant.

Spacious sites with trees between each area. Amenities like beach, playground, picnic shelter were all in very good condition. The facility could use a fenced dog run; perhaps in the grassy area at the trailhead…..
Overall great experience.

The tent camping along the water from sites around 66 - 70 or so are beautiful and quiet during the week. The restrooms are clean. The campground is cared for. Great spot.

This was our first COE camping experience - we were very pleased! Most of the sites are right on the water (but elevated or far enough away from the waterline that you don't need to worry). Lots of shade and very quiet; while walking around in the late morning, there was very little vehicle traffic even though the campground was about 2/3 full. The boat traffic was a lot less than expected; have stayed at other campgrounds around this lake, and the traffic was much higher in those areas. The main roads are well-maintained; they are barely two lanes wide, but many of them are one-way. The site layouts vary widely; some are easy to back into, while some like ours had a horseshoe entrance/exit. The roads leading into the sites are coarse gravel, while where you park is mostly fine gravel. All the sites I saw had sturdy picnic tables (some fixed in place), heavy fire pits, a grill on a post, a separate table for grilling or fish cleaning, and a large pole with a hook for trash. The grounds are well-maintained; we saw multiple vehicles moving around doing various tasks such as maintenance and brush trimming. The bathrooms and showers were OK; a little old but kept pretty clean - though the men's toilet in one of them was clearly broken (no handle to flush). The map on the website for making reservations doesn't give you a good feel for how the actual sites are arranged or where they are located - many of them appear far from the water when they aren't.

Great place on the lake. Most campsites are spacious, private and level. Kudos to whoever designed this campground. We will return for sure. Thanks for maintaining this wonderful place.
