What Guests Are Saying
Petersburg Campground features friendly staff and well-maintained, clean facilities, making it a pleasant place to stay. Many campers appreciate the spacious, diverse sites and beautiful views, despite ongoing recovery from Hurricane Helene, which has affected some amenities and scenery. While there are some drawbacks, such as restroom accessibility and low lake water levels, the overall experience remains positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Great hosts many beautiful waterfront sites bathhouse is old and tired but long high pressure shower is a nice change from my short low pressure shower in my camper which I use full time. No charge laundry helps when there is nowhere nearby to get quarters

Weather didn’t cooperate this time but still had a great time. Windy the whole time we were there.

This was our first visit to Petersburg CG, and we are definitely coming back. Most of the campsites here are spaced so far apart that we felt like we had the campground to ourselves. The hosts and staff were great. Between all the loops, and the Bartram Trail near the campground there was more walking and hiking than we could do over a long weekend. We did not see the alligator at the pond, but we did see an Armadillo or two.

This was one of the nicest parks I've ever stayed in. I loved the spacious and level sites. Laundry on site was wonderful. This was a rest stop for me after continuous traveling for several weeks. I spent a week at Petersburg & loved it. The hiking trail was great.
Only 2 small criticisms. If traveling in a motor home, you have to depend on walking or biking to take the trash to the dumpster. In a van camper there is no room to store garbage; I have to take mine every day. So, with bad knees, I did wish for closer dumpsters.
Also, some of the campsites are off the road on a little loop, but there were no numbers up on the road so you would know which loop to go down.
But these small inconveniences did not keep me from loving this park and enjoying my stay. Just wish it were closer to Texas!

Always love staying here. The facilities clean and plentiful and the campground is away from most boat traffic.

Dont take #89 until steps are repaired. The picnic area is about 25’ from parking on a downhill slope along a gravel path ending with 5 steps in very poor condition. I was moved to a different site after complaining about the unsafe condition.
The bathroom on this side is in poor condition and has only one shower— it takes a bit for the water to run warm. Soap dispensers aren’t monitored. But when brought to attention, they were filled. We lost lights in the bathroom twice during my 2-week stay and briefly at the camp site.
The ground’s keepers were helpful and cleared my site of pine needles and offered additional assistance if it needed to be repeated.
There were parties going on and 10pm quiet time wasn’t adhered. They were loud well after 1am. People were also camping in the forest —I dont think they rented a lot. Squatters??
Also, hosts used golf carts to speed around the campground.

Absolutely beautiful campground. Huge, spacious sites, most of which are on the lake.

This is my favorite campground, the sites are large, easy to level and beautiful. I do not think there is a bad site in the campground. Lots of shade, there is a beach, hiking, biking. Very peaceful.

Big, clean sites with beautiful views. Free laundry and plenty of fallen wood for fires. Even a beach and playground but the weather was too cold for swimming while we were there. Staff was friendly and helpful but if you want to go on weekends you have to book in advance.
