What Guests Are Saying
Petersburg Campground is a beautiful and well-maintained site with spacious, clean campsites and friendly staff, making it a peaceful place to enjoy nature. Many visitors appreciate the gorgeous scenery, access to the lake, and the opportunity to see wildlife like armadillos and woodpeckers. Although there are some lingering effects from Hurricane Helene, including tree damage and a need for improvements in certain facilities, overall feedback suggests a positive camping experience.

This was our first stay at an Army Corps of Engineers Campground. Hopefully it would be our last. Water and electric as promised. Easy dump station. Campsite spread apart nicely . Great hosts. Who could ask for more.

Site was great, easy to get into, pretty much level, and great views. 2nd time we’ve stayed here this month, it will be a regular stop when we travel between FL and NC going forward.

Only 28 sites were open in early March and I can’t comment on the rest of the grounds. We stayed on #8 and found the site level and cleaned. Very nice water views.

The front guard gate was very helpful and polite and efficient in checking us in and giving us information. We were disappointed that the showers although they were clean, there was no privacy curtains which causes us for concern because of the availability of cameras and I don’t want to see, my grandchildren expose to illegal camera happenings .

1st time visit. We'll be back! Love that most sites are pull-thru and very private. Bathrooms nice and clean!

Visited in camper van four times for total of one month’s stay in Jan/Feb ‘23. Only one loop open, but took many dog walks around closed loops. Large, private, waterfront sites with water and electric. Free laundry. Bathhouse was clean. There’s a paddle trail on the lake. Get info at visitor center by the dam.
