What Guests Are Saying
Petersburg Campground is a beautiful and well-maintained site with spacious, clean campsites and friendly staff, making it a peaceful place to enjoy nature. Many visitors appreciate the gorgeous scenery, access to the lake, and the opportunity to see wildlife like armadillos and woodpeckers. Although there are some lingering effects from Hurricane Helene, including tree damage and a need for improvements in certain facilities, overall feedback suggests a positive camping experience.

One of the best COE campgrounds we have encountered! Very well laid out with spacious sites and well maintained roads and public areas. Cell phone coverage was a bit weak, but we camp for the relaxation anyway. 20-30 minutes from anything you'd need in Augusta GA makes for a nice feeling of being away from it all. Site 43 was spacious and no leveling blocks needed.

Stayed in our 40 Ft. Class A motorhome with Jeep tow. Beautiful, large site, overlooked lake. We were able to launch our kayaks from site and ride our E-bikes around this large campground. It was peaceful and the facilities were clean and well maintained. We stayed on site 46 B for 10 nights. The staff at the entry (Ranger Station) were kind and very helpful. We will surely stay again if we are in the area.

This park is big rig doable but not big rig friendly. Some on the sites would be hard to get into with a big rig so choose carefully. The views of the lake were nice and the breeze kept it cool. Wish this park had WI-Fi and sewer. The gate hose is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.

There are limbs that hang too low scraping the top of my RV, the pull thru site (#41) isn’t really pull thru because of where the W/E connections are, and I don’t like no having the code to get in/out any more. If you are going to lock people in, it should be later than 10:00 and opened earlier than 7:00.

As always every thing was great. Only thing was half the boaters and a jet ski did not slow down for the no wake making it a little hard if you were out in your kayak in the cove.

Petersburg is our favorite campground. It's close to home, clean and beautiful. We love that we can travel to Petersburg within 30 minutes. The campsites are well laid out and always in good repair. Views are breathtaking.

Gatekeeper, grounds, facilities....all great. Facility Manager needs a lesson in customer service. Refuses to honor America the Beautiful Senior Pass. I reserved without knowing that COE's accept them so I paid full price. While at the COE I learned that since I have a ATB Sr Pass I can get a refund of 50%. 1st refund request was declined. I contacted Recreation.gov and they submitted a 2nd request which was also declined. I called the Facity Manager and he claimed ignorance, became verbally abusive, and hung up on me after telling me to come pick it up.
