What Guests Are Saying
Petersburg Campground features friendly staff and well-maintained, clean facilities, making it a pleasant place to stay. Many campers appreciate the spacious, diverse sites and beautiful views, despite ongoing recovery from Hurricane Helene, which has affected some amenities and scenery. While there are some drawbacks, such as restroom accessibility and low lake water levels, the overall experience remains positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

This park is big rig doable but not big rig friendly. Some on the sites would be hard to get into with a big rig so choose carefully. The views of the lake were nice and the breeze kept it cool. Wish this park had WI-Fi and sewer. The gate hose is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.

As always every thing was great. Only thing was half the boaters and a jet ski did not slow down for the no wake making it a little hard if you were out in your kayak in the cove.

Gatekeeper, grounds, facilities....all great. Facility Manager needs a lesson in customer service. Refuses to honor America the Beautiful Senior Pass. I reserved without knowing that COE's accept them so I paid full price. While at the COE I learned that since I have a ATB Sr Pass I can get a refund of 50%. 1st refund request was declined. I contacted Recreation.gov and they submitted a 2nd request which was also declined. I called the Facity Manager and he claimed ignorance, became verbally abusive, and hung up on me after telling me to come pick it up.

Petersburg is our favorite campground. It's close to home, clean and beautiful. We love that we can travel to Petersburg within 30 minutes. The campsites are well laid out and always in good repair. Views are breathtaking.

Reservations: Overall easy to book, however, more current photos of the sites would be useful. I ended up moving sites because the photos didn't show me what I saw when I arrived at the camp site and it wasn't workable for my set up.
Check-in/ Check-out/ Camp Hosts: Check in and out was easy. Camp hosts were friendly and informative. I had to change my site and they were willing to work with me to do that.
Campsite: AMAZING! But site 40 is windy - lake effect windy! So if the forecast calls for wind, double it, and decide to book another site.
Most sites are well maintained, but some seem to get missed or maybe they are just older.
Campgrounds: Signage is difficult to see based on where it is placed. It could use an update and maybe additional signage for directionality like "exit this way" or bathrooms with arrows or something. Bathrooms mostly clean (not spotless but they did keep up with the cleanings); shower fixture fell off, but was easily placed back on. Soap and toilet paper were always replenished. There are laundry facilities which I didn't use, but considered it a nice to have if I had more wash to be done. Boating seems to go on most of the night. I wasn't sure about the water rules, but it seems if there aren't any there should be water quiet hours too. Swim beach near my campsite was good.
Atmosphere/ Area: There are supplies available in towns not to far away from the campsite. Acquire firewood before you get there. Campers are friendly, and lots of locals go there (and have been going for ages), so ask for local recommendations if you are wanting to explore the area. Camp was quiet at all times, with the exception of the boat noises which were generally tolerable/acceptable levels during the day. (Full blown summer might be different with more kids in the swim beaches etc.)
Starlink: Mostly a no connect situation because of the trees.
Cell service was a bit trippy. Sometimes I'd have 5G and sometimes 1 bar of LTE.

Greeting at the little ranger station was very welcoming. Campsite was sparkling clean. Hookups were in great shape. View of the lake was perfect. Fishing was easy from the shore.

49 was a beautiful site. Out on point. Other than weather and wind great spot but if boating maybe not such a good spot due to the retaining wall.
