What Guests Are Saying
Petersburg Campground features friendly staff and well-maintained, clean facilities, making it a pleasant place to stay. Many campers appreciate the spacious, diverse sites and beautiful views, despite ongoing recovery from Hurricane Helene, which has affected some amenities and scenery. While there are some drawbacks, such as restroom accessibility and low lake water levels, the overall experience remains positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

I have traveled all around the US and some of Canada and this is still one of my favorite parks to camp, unwind, and enjoy nature. You have campsites right on the shore of Clarks Hill Lake (aka Lake Thurmond) with great views. It is located within minutes of Evans Augusta GA area.
Always clean and with a 30+ mountain bike trail that runs next to the campground. Great fishing and boating also.

We look forward to each visit at Petersburg. Friendly staff, well kept sites, water views on all but a handful of sites, pull through sites abound. There are site for everyone, from very private to more social and open. Large and small, up high and beach access. Great single track mountain bike / hiking trail runs right through the park. Not much in walking or biking distance but everything you would need is within 10-15 miles. AT&T data is marginal but doable, Verizon cell service is fine but data is non-existent.

Great experience from the start meeting Eddie at the gate.

Nice campground with beautiful large campsites. I didn’t mean to reserve a handicap site, (site 17) but it was fine. The only thing about it I didn’t like was that the fire ring was very high. Still with a beautiful view and lots of privacy. No cell service but could connect at the bath house for game updates. Looking forward to going back and staying in other sites.

We love Petersburg Park. We visited Harlem, Washington and Lincolnton. We ate at Back Paddle Brewery, very good, so was the beer. Visited antique shops in all 3 towns. Love all the history, beautiful old homes and businesses.

My only complaint is that the bathroom had poop smeared on the back of the door and was like that the whole time we were there other than that we enjoyed our stay

Nice campground overall just need make it more accessible to getting too the water from your campsite due to water being so low someone can get hurt. Also need to make it so people can get there tags easier when they come later for registration of vehicles. A lot of dead trees laying around as well which is hazardous.
