What Guests Are Saying
Petersburg Campground features friendly staff and well-maintained, clean facilities, making it a pleasant place to stay. Many campers appreciate the spacious, diverse sites and beautiful views, despite ongoing recovery from Hurricane Helene, which has affected some amenities and scenery. While there are some drawbacks, such as restroom accessibility and low lake water levels, the overall experience remains positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Great campground, but the water was way down. Very hard to keep your boat near by. Will check lake level next time.

Petersburg is a beautiful campground with a hiking/biking trail intersecting it. Our site was right on the water, however, I didn't have good access to put in my kayak. There was a retaining wall at our site with rocks at the base. I walked several sites down, but walking out into the water was difficult with muck under the water, close to knee deep. Finally walked further and found access to put in. But hauling my kayak and paddle was a challenge. In spite of that, we spent all our time in the campground, no trips into town. I saw two armadillos, Turkey vultures, blue herons. Very restful place. The hiking is great! Clean restrooms with some updates from other COE campgrounds.

Power was out for 6 hours and the temp was 90 degrees. Came back on 12:30AM. Was told power outage was becoming common at Petersburg.

The campground is wonderful! Hilly bit not so hilly you can not ride a pedal bike. Our site was close to the bath house, however there were some sites that were far away, choose wisely if you use the bath house regularly. There were walking trails as well. Our site was spacious. The sites are far apart and somewhat private.

Location is breath-taking; we were at site B049, right on the lake. Access was easy with a 35' TT. Only regret is we were only here for one night between destinations - could've spent a week just looking at the lake.
