What Guests Are Saying
Petersburg Campground is a beautiful and well-maintained site with spacious, clean campsites and friendly staff, making it a peaceful place to enjoy nature. Many visitors appreciate the gorgeous scenery, access to the lake, and the opportunity to see wildlife like armadillos and woodpeckers. Although there are some lingering effects from Hurricane Helene, including tree damage and a need for improvements in certain facilities, overall feedback suggests a positive camping experience.

It's a nicely laid out campground with large lots and each with a view of the water. Restrooms are maintained and clean. Minor suggestions for improvement: include a scheme for site drainage when it rains, and better showerheads would be appreciated.

Camping sites are in much need of a water drainage system, during heavy rains, to prevent flooding. Several sites are noted to accommodate larger rigs but in and out driveways are difficult to maneuver due to steep inclines or nearby trees.
Petersburg Campgrounds needs to open more sites year-round.

Winter camping at Petersburg is limited to one loop, but there are some really nice sites. Two dump stations, both well set up, water and 50/30/20 electric at the sites. If ever back this way, we'd definitely stay here. Though most of the loops were closed for camping, we enjoyed walking through the roads and checking out all of the campsites to get our exercise. The hiking trail that crosses the entry road is nice, offering great hiking along unspoiled shoreline.

Quiet, winter beauty! Only stayed 1night out of a 3 day reservation due to illness, but can't wait to return. Park is easy to get to, huge sites that feel like you're all alone, and so very beautiful and peaceful. We were in site #A03, a lovely back-in site right on the water. It was long enough that we didn't have to unhook the truck from our 36ft. fifth-wheel trailer. 50Amp power and water at site. Dump site very convenient just past gate upon leaving park. Looking forward to a long stay next time!
