What Guests Are Saying
Petersburg Campground features friendly staff and well-maintained, clean facilities, making it a pleasant place to stay. Many campers appreciate the spacious, diverse sites and beautiful views, despite ongoing recovery from Hurricane Helene, which has affected some amenities and scenery. While there are some drawbacks, such as restroom accessibility and low lake water levels, the overall experience remains positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

I tent camped at site 15. Beautiful location in a cove. Sue the ranger was very helpful in providing additional information about sites and camping. It’s very well maintained and quiet.

Our first visit, first week in December 2021.
Beautiful and very well maintained campground. Many sites are large, level and have a nice view if the lake.
Firewood is not sold onsite. Small and many large pieces, some requiring splitting, were available within the park.
In addition to a fire ring, picnic table and lantern post, there’s an elevated table adjacent to the fire ring. We found it useful for our camp grill and stove. Both tables were recently painted.
Viewed several fishermen in boats catching nice sized fish, and an eagle catching one on its second attempt. Snapping turtles, ducks, and turkey vultures were frequent visitors. We also saw a hawk.
Though the water was 58 degrees F, there were several people on the lake in kayaks, small boats, sail boats and jet skis.
We are looking forward to our next visit.

Nicely spaced waterfront sites. Courteous and helpful staff. Very clean bathhouses but no heat makes for cold showers…

We really enjoyed our stay at this campground. We stayed for 4 nights. Checkin was quick and easy. Our site and the rest of the campground was very clean. We have a 36 foot trailer and getting our rig into our site was no problem. Our site had 50/30/20 power and great water pressure. The campground was quiet and we had a much needed restful weekend. I would recommend this campground to anyone visiting the area.

This is a great place to camp. Shaded spacious campsites with water, electric and lakefront access. Clean restrooms and showers. We’ll definitely be back.
Our only suggestion, as tent campers, would be to install outside dishwashing sinks at the bathhouses. Other than that, we were completely satisfied.
