What Guests Are Saying
Petersburg Campground is a beautiful and well-maintained site with spacious, clean campsites and friendly staff, making it a peaceful place to enjoy nature. Many visitors appreciate the gorgeous scenery, access to the lake, and the opportunity to see wildlife like armadillos and woodpeckers. Although there are some lingering effects from Hurricane Helene, including tree damage and a need for improvements in certain facilities, overall feedback suggests a positive camping experience.

A wonderful campground on the lake, with large, separated sites. Most are pull-throughs. Electric and water only, a dump station at the entrance. We enjoyed our stay.

We’ve camped at Petersburg only three times, but overall the experiences have been great, though we have noticed sites 4 and 47 could use some attention to the grading because the rain washes right through the sites in front of the camper door. We will continue to camp there because it’s a beautiful place.

Our first visit, first week in December 2021.
Beautiful and very well maintained campground. Many sites are large, level and have a nice view if the lake.
Firewood is not sold onsite. Small and many large pieces, some requiring splitting, were available within the park.
In addition to a fire ring, picnic table and lantern post, there’s an elevated table adjacent to the fire ring. We found it useful for our camp grill and stove. Both tables were recently painted.
Viewed several fishermen in boats catching nice sized fish, and an eagle catching one on its second attempt. Snapping turtles, ducks, and turkey vultures were frequent visitors. We also saw a hawk.
Though the water was 58 degrees F, there were several people on the lake in kayaks, small boats, sail boats and jet skis.
We are looking forward to our next visit.
