Arrived June 27th, 2021. Cowell Lake Campground was close to full. We love the rustic quality of this place. Cell service is sketchy at best. Being early Spring, the air was still cold. We had an inner campsite. This turned out for the best. The wind blowing off the lake was cold. Our camper blocked the cold west winds. Tenters, on the lake, were huddled around their campfires wearing whatever warm clothing they had and wrapped in blankets. When the Memorial Day weekend ended, Colwell Lake Campground was near empty. The days warmed. The evenings were cool. It was perfect campfire weather. The lake was still too cold to enjoy swimming. The hike trail around the lake was beautiful. Bugs were minimal. Overall, everything was clean, neat and well taken care of.

Glad that the host has wi-fi if needed as phone reception is unheard of, however, the beauty of the campground surpasses any that we have been at and the Lake is beautiful especially since no one lives on the Lake which makes it private to the campers who camp there.

We stayed here for a couple nights last summer 2020 and it was so nice. The couple that owns it are so sweet and nice. The whole place is relaxing and quiet. My favorite part was the trail that goes around the entire lake because it was literally like its a magical forest and we were in awe!! No showers but we brought our shower bags. We plan to make this a place we go back to and for longer!!

Colwell is beautiful! The sites are large and wooded. We had site 15 which was on the water and felt perfect. Ben the camp host couldn't have been more wonderful.

Clean and secluded. It was fun talking with Bill the campground manager. Got good food at the Tanglewood restaurant in Singleton. Bruno's run was a good hike. Would recommend.
