What Guests Are Saying
Sprague Creek Campground is a charming and clean site with excellent access to Lake McDonald, making it ideal for tent campers and smaller vehicles. Visitors appreciate the friendly camp host, beautiful lake views, and quiet atmosphere, particularly in the evenings. However, some sites are small and close together, resulting in limited privacy, and road noise can be an issue, especially for those near the main road.

#11 was a very convenient site. You are next to the rest rooms. So light pollution is a thing. Camp is quite by the time it was dark & while we were in camp most people walked around our site on the way to the restroom. Also there are no shower facilities. Site had full sun in the afternoon. Tent pad was big enough for our large tent & parking was large enough for a full size truck.

Great campground. Too close to the road, so if you can, book the lake side. You do not need a timed entry ticket for Going to the Sun Road if you have a reservation in Sprague or Avalanche Campground. It is definitely worth it if you can book this campground.

The campground was very beautiful and right on the water. I liked being farther back from the Going to the Sun road so we could not hear as much road noise. The camp was clean and my kids loved being able to walk right to the lake next to our campground while I cooked. The campsite is SMALL though. Compared to our site in the Tetons, you had very little room to pitch a tent and eat at your table, that is all. I think what I found hard about the trip was Glacier is too overrun with people that you almost can't experience anything! Every parking spot is taken at trailheads or view points and the ONLY way you are able to see it is if you rise at 4am and go or stay up late and go at night. With little kids, that is not always possible. We had a very hard time doing anything in the park because of how busy it was. We ventured down to Apgar village and it was like Disneyland! People everywhere and no place to park. Getting out in nature was not peaceful at all. I wish the park would limit how many visitors it got at any given point. I am not just talking about the pass for the Going to the Sun road either, I'm talking about the entire park period. The other solution is make more parking available so people can actually hike the trails you have rather than just have 15 spaces with no parking on the street......

Awesome campsite! Camp host is really sweet - Joan - but she will read you the riot act if you leave a fire unattended or food out unattended!!!

We love Sprague Creek! It’s a lovely little campground, and it was perfect for our needs, as we came to hike and cycle in Glacier!

Beautiful campsite, although lots of mosquitoes when we were there in June. Some road noise nearby in the morning but otherwise the site was good. Spacious and plenty of room to park and set up tent on flat ground

We loved the views of Lake McDonald at this campsite. It was a great location for exploring the west side of Glacier National Park. There was a nice beach at the picnic area that we were able to swim at (open to day use and public during the day). The park did a good job of limiting traffic within the camp, no one was driving through that wasn't a camper. The tent pads were nice and flat. There was some noise from the road but it was still easy to sleep. There aren't a lot of sites (24) at this campground so it didn't feel too busy in the restroom. bring some handsoap for the rest room if you remember! The lake views are amazing.

Site was lovely, scenic (we could peep the lake through another site) and a pathway and stairs led right down to the lake! The site made many things closer to access on the Going to the Sun Road. The campground is nestled between the lake and the road, so you will get some traffic but still absolutely worth it to be on the lake later in the evening light, and/or early in the morning before other park-goers enter. Bathrooms were close, and good water was available--although not hot water. Bring a bin for washing your dishes and then there is a large dispoasl for dumping water and small particles so as not to attract bears

It is a wonderfully quiet spot that feels like you're in the backcountry, down a cattle-riddled (in a fun way) road to the campsite. My understanding is that this is the first year the site requires a fee, yet it is first-come, first-served. So, you can only pay by app when you get there. It is confusing to rely on an app-based system to pay in such a low-signal area, and the website notes there is no cellphone or internet coverage. I'm not sure this has gotten enough attention as it took a while to find a spot to get it to work. Most of the information on the website is wrong: it is listed as Cut Bank Campground rather than Sprague Creek; there IS cellphone reception for Verizon at least; there IS a trash can for waste; there ARE several bear containers. The tent pads look nice and flat on each(?) site. There is also a camping spot immediately next to the only outhouse, which is not ideal for those not wishing to wake anyone when leaving early. It's a great spot for the east side of the park and still a deal for $20.

The campsite was great. Toilets and sinks are a plus. The only complaint is there was no soap in the bathrooms ( probably due to it able to be smelled by the bears.) The sites are well shaded by trees so make sure you bring big spray
