What Guests Are Saying
Zephyr Cove RV & Campground offers a beautiful location with stunning views of Lake Tahoe and a serene atmosphere, particularly in the off-season when it is less crowded. Many guests appreciate the clean and well-maintained sites, friendly staff, and proximity to the beach and other attractions. However, some reviews mention issues with bathroom cleanliness and management, especially during peak times, along with concerns about pricing and discount availability. Overall, it remains a popular choice for camping, especially in winter.

Zephyr Cove campground is an awesome spot to camp as it's so close to the Zephyr Cove beach, just a walk across the street. I'm not an avid camper, so my opinion about the amenities may be different than someone more experienced. The walk-in camp spots are definitely "hike-in" camp spots! Very steeply up hill from the drop off zone. Many people parked in the no parking zones over night. It was incredibly noisy until early in the morning. Lights on, music playing, yelling and laughing until after 1AM.
While the bathrooms and showers seemed gross to me, the grounds were beautiful with rocks and trees, but our spot's fire pit had not been cleaned out, the fire ring was FULL of ashes and not useable.
Would probably go again for the proximity to the lake, but will try harder to get a drive up spot.

This campground was a disaster. It was oversold. The sites were tiny and ridiculously hard to get in and out of with the amount of vehicles that were parked all over the place. There was not enough parking throughout the weekend. The beach was incredibly crowded. The staff were unprepared and unable to handle The number of guests that were reserved over the weekend. On Saturday at the beach they blocked off the parking lot saying it was full very early in the morning. Since we were staying at the resort we were supposed to get free parking at the beach. However, on Saturday they had the parking lot closed off by 9am saying it was full. We had paddle boards, kayaks, umbrellas, ice chests, and more. So we needed to drive our truck into the beach lot to at least unload. While we were in line to get in we noticed they sold a parking permit and let a car in, so we thought oh great that means we will be able to get in and park. Nope! The guy tried to say it was full. We pointed out that he just sold a parking permit and let another car in. We said we at least needed to get in to drop off our beach supplies. He rolled his eyes and said, go ahead, but the parking lot is full. He said we could try to find a spot if we wanted. We got in, unloaded our stuff by the path to the beach, then looked for a spot. We found not only one, but many open spots. It definitely felt like they were saving spots to sell while telling those of us who we were supposed to have free parking with our campsite that it was full.
Then to make matters worse, on checkout day we had to wait 2 hours to leave because our trailer was blocked in by cars that were parked in no parking zones. Instead of handling it the staff gave us the number to a tow truck company. We ended up just waiting and checking out later than check out time.
Also note that you are really far from Stateline and there aren't really bike lanes to get there. We brought bikes, but weren't really able to use them.

It would be nice if this location posted warning about rodents. We had a deer mouse get into our trailer and didn’t notice until our next camping trip nearly 2 weeks later. Now my family and I have potentially been exposed to hantavirus or whatever else and we are extremely concerned.

The place to stay on the busy SE of Lake Tahoe. The wooded setting at the campground is very nice!

Campground was over crowded, management did not enforce camping rules so people were camped everywhere doubling up on many sites. Two of our three nights we had rogue campers pulling in after dark and setting up on our site.

It was a great time. We booked at a walk up site. Our site (#30) was somewhat on a hill so every morning I woke up in the bottom corner of my tent. There is a very steep hill to walk up to the sites so you’ll definitely get a workout. At about 3am the last night we were there a bear sat on me and my dog sleeping in our tent. I pushed it off of us and then looked out the door of my tent with a flashlight to see it slowly walking away (probably wondering what shoved it off the tent). We were there for the 4th of July and my birthday (July 5th). On the 4th the front of the park including he beach was extremely busy (think spring break Florida). Everyone was shoulder to shoulder. We were there 3 nights though and that was literally the only night it was like that. Every other night was super chill. There are showers and restrooms that are cleaned regularly. Lots of nice trails for hiking (if you’re ok with steep incline hiking). The staff was mostly people on work visas from Europe who really didn’t know much about the campground or area. They were super friendly and helpful wherever possible though. Will definitely be staying here again.
