What Guests Are Saying
Gallo Campground offers a beautiful and well-maintained camping experience in Chaco Canyon, with stunning views, amazing night skies, and friendly campground hosts who provide valuable information and assistance. The campground is clean and organized, featuring level sites and access to hiking trails and ancient ruins. However, visitors should be aware of the rough access roads, limited privacy between campsites, and occasional issues with water and restroom facilities.

Great sites and quiet. Potable water and power in the bathrooms a nice bonus. Women’s restroom lacking TP in a stall and no soap for two days.

We really enjoyed out stay and the night stars with the Milky Way was fabulous!
Only disappointing thing was the lack of Park Ranger led tours and they didn't do the 'Night Sky' program.

It was very quiet at Gallo Campground even though the place was full. Very convenient for night photography in Chetro Keto and Pueblo Bonito.

PDC was a bucket list item for me and I was excited about our 1 night camping experience which was great except for the flies.
We camped in Sagebrush and were at battle w/the flies as we woke up, ate breakfast & broke camp. In that campground, we counted two pairs of dumpsters (2 of those 4 had lids damaged to extent that they could not cover the container when closed) which, I believe, accounts for the huge # of flies the counts of which we had NEVER encountered before. We had planned for a leisurely "in camp" morning but, to our great disappointment, had to declare defeat & break camp w/in an hour of waking up.
If the dumpster #'s & their state of repair accounts for the fly population (which seems likely), it would make sense to reduce the # and/or locate them in an area not in such close proximity to the camp sites......perhaps as campers exit(?). Whatever "inconvenience" that relocation might create for campers, it pales in comparison to the inconvenience (to say nothing of the unsanitary conditions) created by the fly population.
At the very minimum, you should report equipment damage to your service provider & demand that they maintain that equipment w/o excuse.
Otherwise.......PDC is among the beautiful places on the planet & we shall return.

Incredible campground in a very special place! The road from the south was a tough approach in a 4 x 4 Sprinter due to heavy rainfall (and the road being washed out in sections), but we made it!
