What Guests Are Saying
Gallo Campground offers a beautiful and well-maintained camping experience in Chaco Canyon, with stunning views, amazing night skies, and friendly campground hosts who provide valuable information and assistance. The campground is clean and organized, featuring level sites and access to hiking trails and ancient ruins. However, visitors should be aware of the rough access roads, limited privacy between campsites, and occasional issues with water and restroom facilities.

Nice spot. Lucky to get a place, checked for cancellations. Tragic there were empty sites when many would have loved to stay. Camp host was wonderful.

Campground well maintained. Clean bathrooms and potable water available. Also trash. Spent 4 days hiking and seeing the highlights. Especially enjoyed Pueblo Alto and the view of Pueblo Bonito from above.
Road going in is rough- wish it were graded or improved a bit.

Chaco is an amazing place. The ruins are spectacular. The only negative is that the site is terribly under staffed. Access was limited because of it . As anyone knows who has been there, the road to it is terrible, but the trip is worth the pain of the drive.

Nice to see rangers on staff as in so many other parks they are absent.

Camping at Chaco CNHP’s is the best way to experience this gem of the NPS . The beauty and quiet of the desert enhance the appreciation of the ancient civilization that thrived there. Being truly off the grid is like transport back in time. Hosts and volunteers were great. So helpful. The only difficulty is the bad road with its 13 miles of washboard. It seemed to be getting some attention from a road crew while we were there But campers agree that it discourages casual visitors because you really have to want to be there to attempt the road. High winds can be a problem too but camp sites have good guy wire loops for tents.

Nice facilities, with large pads for setting up tents, running water in restrooms, and campfire rings. But camp sites were much too close together! Absolutely no sense of privacy at this campground.
