Lake Powhatan offers a fantastic location near Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway, with well-maintained, private campsites and friendly staff. Campers appreciate the beautiful, serene environment and the variety of outdoor activities available, including hiking and biking trails. Charming campground, I enjoyed my two night stay. Nearly all sites were in use. Site 44 was almost level and had full hookups. But I had a problem with the 30 amp power. Kept shutting down/halting my AC and cooling. At one time resetting the posts breaker, I noticed it was hot to the touch. Bathrooms were clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Lake side loop was not exactly lakeside. A path down to the lake was nearby. All but one parking space at the fishing pier were for handicap. A walk thru the woods from a separate parking lot was for the beach. Quiet and peaceful Campground. Sites were mostly secluded.

Can’t say much. I got there late and left early. Site was clean and level and plenty of space between it and the neighboring sites.

Beautiful spacious sites, generally pretty quiet. Well maintained restrooms. Easy trail access for pleasant hikes and dog walking. One of our favorites.

We were able to book a last minute spot after a full weekend. We checked in on Sunday afternoon to a mostly empty campground. It was quiet and shaded with a perfectly sized tent pad for our 11' tent. The park rangers were very friendly and helpful! It's a great place to camp if you are visiting Asheville, an easy 15 minute drive to downtown. A caveat: glad I brought a tent, because this spot would have been impossible for our pop up. "Tent only" spots here mean exactly that. I will be staying here again!
