The campground is well managed. The restrooms are clean, the people are friendly and helpful. Cell service (Verizon) was spotty, but there was a "cell service area" in the campground that seemed to get a better signal most of the time.
Our site was relatively level (site 53), but somewhat difficult to back our rig in to as the angle of the drive, and the edge of the road, made turning and maneuvering somewhat challenging (and we're not novice campers).

We stayed at site #88. It was really close to the neighboring site but overall was a nice place to stay. The staff was very friendly and facilities were clean.

Great facilities, easy check-in, nice level RV spot. We were charmed by the beautiful lakeside mountain scenery. Close to civilization but not too close! We are definitely planning another visit!

We took our RV for two nights in October. Sites 52 and 56. Both were fairly level and had nice privacy, with good access to super clean restrooms with warm water and an included shower. The fire pit and bench are well located by the site and we enjoyed both. In the morning we walked to the lake to get to know the area, super peaceful. In the afternoon we did a longer hike over to the Arboretum and back. Super convenient that the recreation area is connected via hikes to the arboretum. Nice hike! And there are so many other hikes to explore. The restrooms were always clean, which we appreciated so much, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. No Verizon access whatsoever at the sites, but a little throughout other areas and the check in area has free wifi they allow you to connect to.

Close to Asheville and the arboretum, this is a convenient campground. You feel like you are very far from everything but it is an easy drive to town/groceries/gas/restaurants. Although we did not use the bathhouse, they were nice and clean. We stayed on a FHU site in Lakeside loop w NO cell connection, but we were connecting randomly as we walked through the park. The sites are spacious and wooded.
I would advise to arrive and set up before dark- very dark winding roads through the park.
We would stay here again.
